Doesn't the iPhone sync via USB to iTunes?
And the iPhone does have a 3.5mm jack, for those who say it doesn't.
I seriously think that those who buy it aren't too concerned about bluetooth syncing and stuff. They either play music and videos uploaded via iTunes or just use it as a fashion-gimmick.
I guess 90% of the people who bought (or will buy) the iPhone have problems sync their non iPhone to their Mac laptops..
5% of the poeple who will buy it because they just want to be diffrent.. The other 5% have some extra $$$ and they don't know what to buy!
@Striker
Didn't mean to be rude, I just feel that your arguments are "childish".
You know what, your argument is not business driven but purely based on "sympathy". Business isn't about sympathy it's about profit. Apple isn't a charity.
I work for a Bank, trust me when I say that Banks discriminate big time. Everybody wants money, you want it - we got it! Can't repay your loans and Credit Cards - boo hoo, there goes your credit rating.
Apple has got a name. They are releasing their first phone into the market and base this on the success they've had with the iPod. Risky business.
They are trendy, they are sought after. They have a product that Networks want - based on PREDICTIONS and COMPARISONS to previous apple products. It could fail. It could do amazingly well, or it could be just OK.
I don't like the hype about the iPhone as little as anyone else, I know there is much better (love SHARP). But you're not getting the point.
The iPhone is very different to other phones: it IS a Multimedia phone and mobile-review said it was "fun" to use. FUN. Ok, it's rare to hear that using a phone's navigational structure is fun.
It plays GREAT music and awesome movies on it's large screen.
This is already enough to win over a LOT of users.
That's what everyone is after. A fun mobile that looks HOT and has pretty much everything in it.
And you know how many people can afford it? LOT's of people can.
If you're complaining about price then this isn't for you. It's not MEANT for you if you look at the $$$.
Again, let my banking knowledge tell you that there are MANY people who can afford 3 of these phones without even blinking.
For everyone else there is Nokia and Samsung and Sony Ericsson...
And no, I don't want to know how much you earn. Couldn't give the faintest in the world. This isn't about you, just understand that business hardly ever cares about those it can't get anything out of.
Harlekkin
it is not even a multimedia phone as mentioned before. It has a poor quality camera,no camera settings,no video recording capabilities,no mms,no memory slot,no 3,5mm jack for earphones,it doesn't support bluetooth stereo headsets for the music player,so it is not a smartphone, and it is not a multimedia phone either
@Bad Bob
You are absolutely right, man!
This iPhone thing is NOT a smartphone and it's practically useless from a work point of view (at least in Europe, guess that for the USA it is ok, since their phones are almost in the stone age when compared to the EU and Japan).
And guys, don't start saying that the only ones stating it is rubbish are people who can't afford to pay for it - an HTC P4550 (Kaiser) or TyTN are pretty expensive and have got everything one needs to work while away from the office - just check the specs!
so happy
Steve Jobs claimed it was the thinnest smartphone ever. WRONG (its not even a smartphone for does who think it is, it is a multimedia phone)
he claimed it has a software breakthrough at least five years more advanced than its competitors WRONG again (the iphone even lacks features on basic phones)
iPhone lacks a number of other handheld features that have not already been mentioned and are common in competing devices, including voice dialing, voice recording, instant messaging, a memory card slot, MMS, tethering, A2DP, common Bluetooth file transfer (OBEX), GPS capability, copy and paste, native games, support for MP3 files as ringtones, and it can not even film video. it lacks 3G, HSCSD, HSDPA, and it can be HACKED. other people can take control of this phone!
How usefull are its fancy features such as acceleremeter for auto-rotate? not very. are you going to rotate your phone all day? it has a touchscreen keyboard slower than an actual one. multi input useful? it makes the phone more friendly to your fingers but this feature is present in other phones and there are other fancy features it lacks, TouchFLO, VueFLO, Drag and drop, Vibetonz, handwriting recognition.
all music and videos must be loaded from itunes, so you just lose even more money :-) (iTunes + iPhone = iProfit)
if you want a multimedia phone like the iphone, get the Sony Ericsson W960.
if you want a phone mostly because of its camera get an XCute with 8MPx or the Samsung with 10MPx
if you want a good smartphone look at HTC, Qtek, i-mate, O2, Dopod. HTC is the worlds no1 smartphone provider. Qtek, i-mate, O2, Dopod are just different names for HTC.
i i have enough money to buy 3 iPhones if anyone can convince me that it is worth it, against all i hv just said, ill buy 3 iphones
Bad Bob
This phone is so old that I believe the specs of my N70 (which I had 3 phones ago) defeat it, we in England do not have a requirement for phones of this quality any more and need something more up to date, look at the W960i due out by the end of this year, and learn from it Apple!

If you want to stoop to derogatory personal comments (dreamer, kid etc etc) then you do so. I think your inability to conduct a discussion without resorting to insults highlights exactly who is the "kid" out of the 2 of us. If you want to continue the discussion, then firstly grow up, then read on.....
In response to your comments, I will not complain about B&O, BMW or Prada because their pricing stucture is based solely on the quality of their product and its place on the market, whereas the iphone's pricing is not based on this as better phones are avaialble free because of network subsidies. So, because Apple will not allow subsidies, they are operating COMPLETELY differently to BMW B&O etc so you comparison is absolute nonsense.
So, it is clearly discriminatory because they COULD allow networks to subsidise the phone and thereby price it in line with its competiton and the rest of the industry, and in turn make it accessible to people who don't have a bundle of money to throw at their new phone. But they do not. In doing this they are forcing poorer consumers out of the market. Do you see BMW, PRADA or B&O doing this? No, you see them charging a fair price based on the quality of their product and its place on the market.
Get the point yet "kid"?
i just dont understand all the fuss wih this thing...
Don't forget that the iPhones features may differ greatly to those available in America at the moment.
THIS PHONE ia an ipod with a cell phone attributes and a competitor to walkman series.
If you need the iPhone for basic phone calls, retrieve your email where ever you are, this phone will fit your need. But if you want to have a camera, bluetooth, 3g this not your phone
@Striker
You're a real dreamer, you know that?
Sorry to tell you this, but the world isn't a fair place.
Apple does not force any Network provider to STOCK or RESELL the item. If they WISH to resell it they MAY DO SO under Apples conditions. Obviously carriers are happy to be under Apples thumb.
Why is it discrimination?!
Is BMW discriminating against poor people? No, it's business damnit. They are segmenting a market that they see as profitable - a market that is rich so that not every man and his dog can afford this product. It's not about Quantity but Quality, and it comes at a price.
Why don't you complain about Bang & Olufsen, Prada, Diesel and all other brands that "discriminate" against low-income earners?
Get with the program kid,
Harlekkin
To all those misguided souls who are thinking about purchasing this product ...... DON'T DO IT.
I just don't understand the hype that this phone is getting. I personally went to the Cingular/AT&
T stores when this iphone mania was occurring and got to play around with it. Aside from having a large screen, this phone is simply 'junk'. The only reason this phone is getting any attention is that it has the 'i'whatever logo. Apple got lucky marketing this product in the US because most Americans are ill informed when it comes to cellphones. From the rich CEO to the minimum wage workers, all are used to having the 'free' phones that come with a 2 yr contract. So when you move from an old motorola flip phone to something that looks like an ipod, people are gonna get excited.
In Europe, I don't think that it will go as well. Folks there are used to high quality material from Nokia and Sony Ericsson like the n95 n73 or k800i. The N95 for example, that is something to get excited about. For those that don't know, its sports a 5 megapixel camera, 8gb of memory, a GPS unit so you can find your way around, wifi, the list goes on . With the silly ipod phone, you can't even bluetooth photos or files you have to any other phone or pc for that fact. The touchscreen is an innovative idea but its not functional at all. I tried typing an sms with it and it was a total joke. The camera is supposed to be 2.0 megapixel ... but I had a picture emailed to me [which can only be emailed or sent by mms], and the quality was pathetic.
In conclusion, if you want a cool toy, stick with the best .. Nokia or Sony Ericsson.
Down with Iphone.
I think the hype is way overdone.
Honestly, this phone could probably sell, if they only fix a few things. The targeted group is people that actually send MMS and like to record videoclips. They would want a 3G phone, cause that is somehow cool. If it does this things good is not relevant. But most of them only want a 12 month contract anyway. Or in many cases bying it straight off!
The iPhone is not a good phone, its as they say a iPod video with basic phone features. But not enough memory or battery playtime to actually compete with the iPod video.
Its a designphone with a cool touchscreen interface.
It has a webbrowser, but not as competent as Nokias Minimap browser or Opera browsers and with only edge-technology to connect, its just not enough for european consumers.
This is a great phone, but I will change my service provider (Vodafone) for it.
At last its released ! ! ! But i aint gettin it though...
User interface would be very interesting i guess but once u get bored of that,,, then its just one ordinary phone with ordinary fetures....
If this was released a year ago,, then thjis wud be a high-end handset...This time??? Nahhhh.
Good phone with average features...
Is it worth getting it??? YES if ur phone is cuurently at nokia 3310 level but the NO if you just have a recent model...
It would still appeal though to the general public even though many people criticise it.
But at the end of the day, all consumers are different. So when this is released u gotta experience the phone first...... and then you can make your own decision....
Dont let any review brainwash you...
ITS ALL ABOUT PERSONAL CHOICE...
OK.
THANKS
