Why would you want to buy it in the first place. It dosent have 3 G or some of the features u would expect it to have. I'm sure it will be expensive even thou it will be useless.
Is there nothing about forcing Apple to make significant changes before the release, i.e. 3G and other features needed or a daily European?
To the person with iphone user as his/her name:
It's not bad if you check the www.mobile-review.com gor iphone review, and you see how many misses are there in iPhone, the only thing that is right about iPhone is the fact that is a good BLING for those who want to have a fashon mobile; nothing more!
i hate apple. the only thing that's fine in this all corporation is the 'apple' sign.
There's a lot of people out there willing to pay for cool.
For everyone else who has a brain, HSDPA is the way to go (...well for Australia at least hehe)
@RUDAGER: How can your friend who wants to surf on the bus be pleased with a low internet connection?
I don't think the iPhone will do very well with people who know cell phones.. people in Europe who get it have lots of money to burn and they also think they'll look "cool" with an iPhone. I wouldn't want to pay whatever you have to pay for the iPhone on a 2 year contract (mind you that almost everyone already have cell phone contracts..) I'd rather get the SE W960i which does even more than the iPhone.. the iPhone is just an iPod with a 16m color touchscreen that you could make calls with...
The fact that cell phone contractor companies (O2, orange, t-mobile) had to negotiate with Apple and give royalties is a complete turn-off.
My opinion on the iPhone: It's targetted for people who don't know cell phones and the whole market of them.
u r really paying for the 'Apple" brand so u look 'cool' to others who cant afford the brand.
the new LG phone is so similar and will prolly cost significantly less than the iphone.
and the lousy thing doesnt even have the half of things we europeans like to use... mms for instance? shame on apple.
The iphone is really good, and it is worthy, the thing is that here in America most of americans like to complain, the country was made to complain, and never be satisfied, they always want more...Also there is a policy that if u dont like it, you got the money back. Most of opinions are from apple oppositors or kids that can not afford the iphone. I was skeptical about the iphone, but i got it and it is really worthy, internet is excellent, if u need internet get this one. If u need excel, word, powerpoint dont buy the iphone cause you can not edit those on iphone. But u got maps (no gps), youtube, music is perfect, weather, calendar pics, email...its excellent, just try it before you buy it and you will see what im talking about. Remember, an american review will always be negative, cause they are negatives persons.
I have just one question...is the iPhone really worth it for that price ?? It costs a lot, we are talking about maybe 500 euros in Europe and in addition you must sign a contract of 2 years. Moreover, if you read some reviews, it is not that good. Ok, it looks great and I would like to have it, but in comparison to some smartphones or Pocket PC, it seems that it is far behind regarding features. According to these reviews it is a beautiful fashion gadget, a good iPod-Video, but nothing else. So, for 500 euros, is it not better to get a nice pocket PC full of features, applications and unlocked ?
The most I would now pay for a handset is £100, they may get experience high first week sales, but as other handset companies are making higher spec phones, especially after reading the Mobile Phone review; why would anyone pay £200 plus WITH a contract for a "non-smartphone". I wonder who their target market is?
Seeing the fact that the iPhone is being sold in the states for around 599€ with a 2 years contract and ±40$ per month i would recon that the price here would be the same around (taking in count taxes and stuff).
I expect the prices to be:
499-699€ with a 50-100€ bundel.
That because the phone won't be subsided, this only will
attract the hard born Apple "geeks" and "techies".
No average consumer will pay that much for a phone which
lacks normal functions.
For a comparison you can take a look at the N95.
Which packs everything in a "future" phone you might think.
Yes it isn't apple, but it's priced "normal" and even
casual Joe can afford the phone.
so think twice if you want this iPhone, because you'll pay allot, for allot less.
If its unsubbed, more like £600-700 no matter what contract
now all we need is a release date. the sooner the better. i recon we can antisipate tariffs on o2 of more than 40pound a month and a hand set price of more than 300pound.
only time will tel
Will the iPhone be available in Ireland aswell????
Apple has jumped off the mainstream again with the iPhone. The iPod might have been a mass-market product, but with the iPhone they are again sinking back to the little niche of 2% or so that they have with computers. Apple is a small company with a big name, but it's impact on the maket is marginal at best.
the iphone is a great looking handset which no doubt has very good features (i dunno yet as i'm in the UK). to compare it to other music phones like the SEw960 is a mistake. Doing that is like comparing the Nintendo DS to the Sony PSP. They are both games consoles but that is where the similarities end. Both these handsets are aimed at different audiences. The iphone is an ipod you can make calls off and the w960 is a phone u can listen to music on
Hmmm... Apples on Orange's? I smell a marketing campaign.
All of you are whiners....
I live in Canada and we will probably get the phone around the same time as you guys if Rogers is not too stuck up.....I dont plan on getting it (happy with my SE k790a), but I do know people who might and they range from spoiled rich kids to a friend who wants to surf the web on his bus ride....
First off the iphone is not a bad product. Steve Jobs comments aside, its really targeted as an ipod replacement with basic phone functions. For the average consumer who would buy this phone 3G, 3-5mp camera, etc are not necessities. I have been to Europe many times, and I admire how much ahead the telecom industry is over there. However, I still saw people using ipods and I saw very few people regularly surfing the net on their phones. The iphone is for folks like that! For these folks, the iphone is a major upgrade. Smartphones would just be too difficult and cumbersome to use for the average consumer. Apple has hit the mark on the head. It knows there are people willing to pay a premium for an easy to use phone with internet browsing and multimedia capabilities. If you want push email, get a blackberry. If you want gps and 5mp cam, get an N95. If you want an ipod and phone in one than buy apple....To each his own!
