Even on the excessively unlikely even apple released one first let alone any time soon we all know that they are not the original idea and it's not really copying them as many have proto types ideas concepts and plans that are known and discussed for years
Yeah the notches are ugly. What vivo did with their concept phone apex is one of the workarounds for the front facing camera. And the under display fingerprint reader is a hell of an innovation that i hope will gain serious support and development sooner rather than later. Hopefully with these new tech the notches will blow over. The next thing to do now would be experimenting with under display sensors.

notch haters are gonna eat those words they said when ipx was release, samsung may have taken a swipe at the notch on the s9 release but nobody reacted to it. now most of the OEM of android have a phone line up with a notch on their units, heck google even annouced that the next version of android will support units that has the notch, in effect google has embraced the notch trend.
there comes a time when most flagship phones will have a notch and im sure notch haters dont have a choice but to buy a top-notch phone :p

Most of the spill over notches is happening because of apple ordering too many OLED screens from Samsung and their iPhone x not selling as planned (I'm sure now that the X is for experiment and not 10), as a company Samsung has all these excess screens with notches and rather than losing profit from the failure of Apple they decided to sell those screens with the notches to other companies to lessen the blow of the cost or the initial deal to create these dumb screens. As for lawsuit against copyright Apple would lose. That's just my 2 cents on the matter.

Who could possibly copy a product in three or four months?
They're not copies, but it's screen makers who tout those screens.
I see Essential's implementation beautiful compared to ugly iPhone X's notch.

The worst "reform" for modern smartphones. A step back
Who does the slight top bezel bother? Fits the camera(s), speaker, yet the notifications bar is complete and running as usual.
Now, it'll be spread to MOST phones probably in the next year.... :|
