The Iconic Identity Design I have not heard of before. It looks like it's from 2013. It's very ahead of its time. It looks like what Oppo and LG would make, but a few years later.

My favorite design is OmniBalance. I like the Xperia Z3 the best. It looks so smooth and compact and would probably feel so good in the hand.

Wong Henry, 02 Mar 2018Sony Design evolution (from side) Xperia Arc - |( Xperia Z - || Xperia XZ2 - |) Future Xp... moreyou mean nokia has seen the future of sony design with the banana phone? *shocked* haha

on another note, the back of ambient flow is very similar to the nxt series and both uses the concept of the comfort of the phone resting in your palms. So its basically sony going back to its roots.

CMG, 02 Mar 2018You had your awesome design by shedding some bezels of omnibalance design. Instead you went wi... moreIf they used OmniBalance but with smaller bezels
-"Oh come on, Sony! Just damn replace that same old cr@p OmniBalance language already! It's so darn ugly as hell!"

Seriously, this is the only way they can't be criticized by people. Designing a phone doesn't just aim on beauty, but it also focuses on practicality and safety.
Sony phones look not-so-beautiful, but their designs work. Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 was a beautiful thing, but its battery has failed. The S4 was also a beautiful thing, but it was so cheap as heck. S5 was an uglier version of it. The S6 had to be forced into copying Sony with the glass back in order to eliminate "cheap"-ness.
You see, no design could ever satisfy every people. But if you are Samsung or Apple, you can create the "sh!tt!est" smartphone design and people would immediately fall in love with just a few advertisings. It's how our society works today.
LG makes very beautiful smartphones, but look at the sales.
Xiaomi Mi Mix was also a gorgeous (though revamped instead of being original) but everybody picks the more stup!d iPhone X with what DisplayMate claims to have a "top NOTCH" display.

Omnibalance was the best and it peaked with the z5 and z5c. Beautifully hidden front facing stereo speakers, fingerprint sensor on the side which in my opinion is the best place for that sensor and that gorgeous back matte glass that wasn't a fingerprint magnet. The phone was just stunningly beautiful at that time and one of a kind.

Sure it had some mayor flaws like volume buttons too low and uncomfortable, plastic camera lenses and cheap materials that I wished they could fix with the next generation.. but they didn't. Instead they changed their desing languaje with the introduction of the Xperia X family with that cheap looking brushed back metal. Horrendous.

Loop desing was also beautiful but unfortunately the bezeless trend happened and made it look outdated and kind of ugly compared to the new Samsung, LG and Xiaomi.

This new ambient flow desing just looks bad, cheap and tacky. They barely cut the bezels and the back is like the worst of HTC, Huawei and LG combined. The thickness is just insulting without a bigger battery, no headphone jack and moving the fingerprint sensor to the back of the phone.

Now Razer phone is everything omnibalance wanted to be, it is hilarious that Razer could pull off a better Xperia phone than Sony itself. I wish they succeed because now the Razer phone looks unique and special, even if it has a stolen language desing.
