Pro-Logical, 13 Aug 2011How precisely does an end user purchase 0.3 or 0.8 of a phone? Why the fraction and what does ... moreIt did bug me that GSMArena didn't showed the exact variables for this statistical survey, but hey: Statistics are never accurate anyway. It would comfort my mind if they did at least an open-ended interviews or questionnaires showing that they did a field experiment to validate this graph.

An experienced user in mobile would know that specifications are not everything because the real world results greatly differs from those synthetic benchmarks. It's quite subjective really, but the only way for the average buyers to know is to test each one. The iPhone is very expensive, but the UI experience is a pleasure to use, the Androids usually boasts the latest tech, Nokia phones boasting a much more superb build quality from the rest and BlackBerry phones has it's own specialized quality too. In the end, it's up to the end users' tastes.

How precisely does an end user purchase 0.3 or 0.8 of a phone? Why the fraction and what does this mean? I would speculate this to be units purchased as a proportion of units shipped versus returns or some other variable. Therefore the market share percentage is a gross estimate rather than a net figure. Please at least explain the significance of this if you will publish two conflicting market reports, rather than allow readers to reach their own (ill informed) conclusions.

Bada OS has more market share than the Windows Mobile/Phone OSes because its better than it and is also better than symbian in terms of usability.its like androids smaller brother.

It means that Nokia is the leader in the dumbprone market, but NOT in the smartphone market.

Apart from the Symbian Nokia has the best of everything to offer including after sales service. Samsung, blackberry and Sonyericsson sucks when it comes to after sales service atleast in India. Also Nokia is very promising in terms of hardware while Samsung and LG are not even in their top end models. Apple is just have everything to offer in their own world of "i" but the price also feels to be out of the world. So it always seems to be a gadget of some other world.

If there's one thing I like about Nokia, it always seems to induces responses of hatred as if it's a knee-jerk reaction. Anyway, cheers to Nokia. Hopefully their WP7 phones still retains the flamboyant and unique designs that Nokia did with their previous Symbian phones.
