This is the proverbial "HTC hype-train" that's been happening for the last 6 years in ... morePlease tell me precisely what another phone will offer over this?
I see only two areas for improvement if the rumours are true.
Battery and bezels.
Lets head that off against lets say the S8
Memory - loss } 256GB :)
Camera - draw } I would have to use it to compare but vs the u11 the s8 is comparable
Battery - loss } Touchwiz is horrible, truly horrible and this has been the case forever.
Performance - loss } unless you live in the states you will get the xynos, yuck
Audio - loss } do i need to elaborate?
Screen - loss } saturated vs clarity
OS - loss } Sense is rapid, never slowing down vs touchcrap
Waterproof - draw } IP68, well done HTC
Support - draw } HTC has some of the best support but Sammy is pretty widespread
Price - loss } lol just lol
Additional feature ie: Squeeze - loss } 3D touch stolen from apple, no need for that.
Data speed (5G) - loss } this is a landslide
Charge speed - loss } newer quick charge
Aftermarket development ie: Rom's etc - LOSS } Sammy development on XDA is woeful, not only that but you will have to physically break the phone (efuse chip) to unlock the bootloader, this will mean you have voided your warranty in regards to HTC, you can unlock the bootloader and and re-lock with no physical difference, you'll still lose warranty but if you S-Off then it is completely reversible.
Lot of people forget that HTC essentially spawned android and without them, the phones you use today would not be the same devices they are, more to the point, the last 3-4 devices which HTC have released have been stellar devices which are comparable or better than the vast majority of the competition, why else do you think people buy HTC lol, we weigh up our options and identify the better phone, there isn't a single thing you can do you on your device that you wouldn't be able to do either better or the same on a HTC.
Sure they've had issues in the past, what device hasn't, i'm currently rocking a 1+5 which is superb, but it's not without faults, oiS being the main one.
But to say that HTC does this all the time etc etc i think is a cop out, seems to me you're clutching at straws pal.
Will be getting this phone, but with a 3,400 battery and a 2K display? I'm a little frustrated at this.
Not only that but the bezels aren't exactly small either.
Will need to see it in the flesh before I commit to anything.
Other than those two gripes, i think this device looks superb.
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2018 I would rather have a U12 than be with her. Her nose is nothing to write home about.Bring u12 and her...problem solved.
HTC haters are too afraid to not posting silly attacks in HTC-related articles.
To think that HTC in their current dire situation still pose such a "threat" to them, wow.....
Still enjoying our metal clad, smooth edged One A9's. Bright, fast, pleasure to hold and use. Hope some new ones do not have greasy glass backs.
This is the proverbial "HTC hype-train" that's been happening for the last 6 years in a row. I don't mean to abate from those who appreciate this brand and it's products. This will be a good phone no doubt in my mind... but it's really only going to be appreciated by HTC enthusiasts who have long accepted and understood what they want from a HTC phone. But those clammering that this might be a game-changer if this phone has so and so are going to be met with a familiar cycle of events - a headphone jackless, highly priced mediocore phone laden with a few gimmicks, (in this case, edge sense accompanied by something new) stereo speakers and DAC to appease audiophiles, chromatic colour finishes, a lackluster spec-sheet particularly in the battery and camera department followed by slow sales, harsh reviews by industry and YouTube critics alike and another fiscal year in the red for HTC and so the cycle continues. On top of that, they'll most likely add the all-so in-vogue notch for good measure.

Anonymous, 05 Mar 2018One of the worst LCD panel I’ve ever used beside LG IPS. I got issue with my pervious u11 LCD ... moreIphone 8 have great IPS panel, like they always had. It's not new that iphone usually have best quality hardware you can buy. i've both android and ios devices i prefer android ecosystem and way the SO interact and possibilities it can provide.
But, htc panels are very very good (close second). if you had a problem just send it back and get 1 new.
if you don't like LCD colors..none will resolve your issue thats your problem not lcd problem...you know you have 2 modes on htc sRGB and vivid colors right? and you can personalize each mode so that "red tint" your talking about should not exist. low brightness i don't know what your talking about. i've one i dont need to go to forums to see the quality of the panel.
when i read 12MP + 16MP, i know it's a bad camera idea. So far, Sony never made any 16MP phone camera sensor with great IQ. Sony's best still stay at 12MP, which makes a lot of sense because for such tiny sensor, 12MP should be the limit, we need great low light photos on those tiny sensors. So, bad move HTC, if this was true. I was hoping for a tele (2x) second camera with equivalent IQ as its wide angle main camera, and with the same aperture (anything bigger than f/1.7 would be fine), OIS, phase detect AF. That will be a killer camera phone. Why, HTC can't see this. How to sell?
Anonymous, 05 Mar 2018No FRONT dual SPEAKERS = FAIL..... Sorry sorry sorryand no back dual subwoofer ... fail
Annas, 05 Mar 2018This is htc imagine Htc u12 will have 3980 maH battery Got a source for that claim? I do find it odd that the 'U12' has even worse specs than the U11+ but I want to make sure.
