I am actually excited this time. Apple has been focusing a lot on sound quality in the last year. ipad pros are by far the best sounding tablets, new iphones probably have the best speakers among the mainstream flagships, in almost all reviews the homepod is said the be the best sounding smart speaker. Maybe they will get it right this time 😊

AnonD-535480, 05 Mar 2018I think if anything Apple is the one being graded on an inverse scale. Let's take the iPhone ... moreNo point at all. I judge everyone in the same term no matter of brand. I was Sony user for over 10 years, I was buying their devices but I was also first to judge them, I was bashing them constantly so much that people call me hater when I was literally pointing bad thing of the device that I has typing on it.
The same with Apple, I dont hate Apple device it self, I dont like Apple as company with sneaky and annoying marketing. And just like with Sony, I have whole right in the world to judge them and laugh from them because I use their devices. As a user I see how their marketing strategy work, I can admit that their amazing at selling stuff, but in the same time I can make fun of it and bash them for it, because I used it.
AirPods where not "massive success", they make lots of "noise" on market just like any other Apple product, mostly because "it was Apple", nothing more, their selling number perfectly covered their user base, and thats it.
They raise their user base really nicely, with small steps and good strategy they stick them to them self, and now they dont need to worry about sales, but if you look at it from wider perspective they didnt really expand and get big amount of new users. It is constant battle with other companies and services, but they dont really get much numbers from that, its all based on their main user base that they have. Its HUGE number, its true, but they cant really reach non-Apple users.
Even their "premium huruduru amazing Apple style club" is not so amazing anymore and people dont buy Apple phones because they are trendy, and people want to feel trendy. Now Apple need to fight for new users as any one else.

This is a good thing; it means Apple is not courageous enough to think in-ear monitors and earbuds sound better than a large, powerful, pounding driver. Yes, Beats may be looked at as the full-sized headphones by Apple, but I don't think Apple's headphone will replace them.

It needs good noise-canceling so more people will be run over by train and traffic while they listen music and have there eyes clued in there phone screen. And well another device for fanboys to say apple did it first and anyone who now makes wireless headphones will be copycats of apple :D

I can see it now, the three "stand out" features this thing has will be postponed weeks after its release, and tech media will lap it up saying it's okay for Apple to charge for what you DON'T get at launch while everyone else gets lambasted for the same thing...

Except for old iPods and new Homepods in "NotYetSmartSpeakerButMaybeAfterFewUpdatesItCanActuallyDoSomethingSmart" category, Apple never released anything, that can be considered as a good sounding product.
Even if Apples and Beats headphones sucks, I can't wait for a new model.
It could be interesting or be a typical Apple disaster, who knows? Let us wait and let us hope Apple can deliver something ... and pretty please be it a final product with a working software, not something that will work year later like Homepods.
