i am waiting for s8 update till now. still not release for sri lanka. this is not acceptable as a flasgship phone of samsung
I'm still waiting for my Samsung S7 edge oreo update here in Lebanon. I always check if there is a new update but till now nothing is updated! I'll keep in touch to tell u about the new update on my Samsung S7 edge.
timmy, 08 Mar 2018oh so they are only updatin flagship phones and high end, wow samsung so theres no more update... moreWould this not be because older handsets/processors/phones canÂ’t nevessarily handle the most recent update?
techknow, 11 Mar 2018Most people complain about bugs, battery drainage and lag post major updates....android or ios... moreMy S8 became allot more snappier after the oreo update with less hangs. For me it made this phone perfect, this was the update i waited for since i got it since it felt kinda sluggish at times even after a hard reset.
Shittiest software is samsung's strength. No oreo in s8 in australia, useless updates and queuing by region.
Most people complain about bugs, battery drainage and lag post major updates....android or ios....why are people still obsessed about updates? There is an old saying ‘if it aint broken why fix it’
Tech companies have mass hypnotised consumers into this ‘latest version’ game. However most people end up changing their device either because their phones have slowed down or they unable to get the latest os.
Its a race where the consumer is never gonna win coz its rigged.
Of course people would get mad when some mid range phones get updates every month and people are paying lots of cash on s and note series. It shows support like feedback when you get updates even you don't want to update your phone.
Alien, 09 Mar 2018Have had Oreo since late October 2017 - Sony XZ Premium. Samsung may make premium build phone... moreThe funny thing is that nearly all the features in stock Oreo is already in Samsung nougat.
Anonymous, 09 Mar 2018looks like some sam-fan tries to explain it's not that big deal not to get latest android.
B... more1. Premium Phone doesn't need to be on the latest OS. It just needs to have features on par with latest OS.
2. Samsung takes lot of time because its 'skin' already has features which the new OS is bringing. Picture-in-picture, Split screen, App badges and even enhanced Screenshots(Going to debut in Android P) have been there since marshmallow in Samsung devices.
3. I'll agree on duplicate apps and optimization part. Samsung really needs to work on that.
Alien, 09 Mar 2018Have had Oreo since late October 2017 - Sony XZ Premium. Samsung may make premium build phone... moreThose 'low and mid range phones nobody wants' are Samsungs bread and butter. That's probably where a huge amount of there profits come from

Samsung may make premium build phones (S and Note line), but their updates are just good, not premium at all..
Instead of flooding the market with garbage quality phones (low and mid-range phones that nobody wants), they should focus on having PREMIUM updates to justify the premium price.
Those features users cling on to justify the lazy AF updates are mostly bloatware that i'd personally delete/disable from day 1.
looks like some sam-fan tries to explain it's not that big deal not to get latest android.
But a premium phone needs to be with latest OS right - otherwise why its premium?
And Android OS is made by google not samsung - they make a skin on top of that (and they fail - see oreo s8) . Google makes a full os in a year and samsung makes a skin in 1 year ? Not acceptable.
Yeah we all know samsung software sucks - full of duplicate apps for no meaning.
Samsung should try to make a OS instead of tweaking a good OS - then people will understand how pathetic and incapable samsung is.
And they are ignorant too - they even did not push feb, march security patches to Note 8. Stop making nonsense comments and get any other device to realise that Android runs smoother if the device is not made by Samsung

I don't understand why people get mad over OS updates. If the OEM has already provided a feature-rich system then other than Security updates, OS updates are unnecessary. Stock Users might disagree because they are completely reliant on OS updates for new/better features (I used to have Nexus and motorola devices). Currently, I own S7 Edge and might upgrade to S9's. I already have features such as app badges (Oreo) or Better Screenshots (Android P) in my device which is on nougat.
This is not limited Samsung. Xiaomi is famous for no OS updates but latest MIUI even on older OS, has more features than latest stock.
Moreover these OEMs keep introducing more features with monthly updates.
Every year Samsung do the same things like when its new flagship phone is out with latest android version then they release update for older phones :(
I think my Note 8 will get android oreo when Note 9 will release :D
