What was left of Motorola died and ceased to exist the day Google sold it to Lenovo. It has been a high speedl train wreck ever since.
Well, I thought the Z was supposed to replace the X anyway. The X was the flagship line. When Lenovo took over, they changed it into the Z. With the G series going up in prices and spec, having another mid ranger makes no sense.
I do wish Lenovo spin off the X as a full time Android One lineup. That would be sweet.

The Mate 10 is a good example of classic display with a well proportioned bezels and frontal button with fingerprint sensor. The Motorola leaked future designs looks dated and no optimized. They should after a silence period change them for a more modern line and try to attract the customers lost. Althogh I don't have faith in them, they are now Lenovo.

I am not surprised if Motorola are struggling. I just bought the X4 and while it has all of the features I need in a phone I feel that they got the design all wrong. They should have not tried to copy the S7 with its glass and metal construction and made something more 'Motorola'-esque. As a result the X4 is unwieldy and too heavy. I far prefer the ergonomics and lighter weight design of the G5. I know the build of the X4 is quality and made to last but that is no good to me if I can't carry it around all day! I have a physically demanding job and its just too heavy to have on my person. Really sad, as like I said, the X4 has every feature you could possibly need. Missed opportunity. Motorola can't seem to strike the right balance between design and specification. For instance, the G5 should have had 32gb to begin with. Then they released the G5s to correct this but also made the phone bigger and heavier at the same time!!! Stupid. Its confusing for consumers and shows a lack of organisation within Motorola. Which in turn makes people shop elsewhere. Rant over.
Having Moto X4 its like a best phone. Would buy X5 if they release for my GF.
But this is not what i wanted to see or hear :-(
If they dont abandon ugly bezels and on screen home buttons[which occupies screen] they might have to shut down their famous G seres also. Sad truth is G series phones are better than any mi and oppo or vivo phones. but bad design is keeping me away.

I hope the G series has IPx7 or IPx8 rated phones coming out next year.
This is a major blow to Motorola because the X series was the only series that had verifiable water resistance. The Z series claims to have water resistance, but I saw that was not true of the Z2 series.
I hope that the G and E Series have water resistance within the next two years because I know they will likely still have a headphone jack.

In reality the Moto G line of devices has been creeping up to the same specs as the Moto X line of devices.
Just look at the Moto X4 has a SD 630, with 4 GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of storage, a Full HD (1920x1080) display, and dual cameras with 4k video.
Now look at the new Moto G6 plus which has a SD 630, 4/6 GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of storage, a Full HD+ (2160x1080) display, and dual cameras with 4k video.
So clearly anyone with open eyes can clearly see that the Moto X line and Moto G line are so close in terms of specs. It only made sense to get rid of one line of devices.
Too bad moto and BB didnt make it quite well (according to number), but i am glad Nokia is making a quite successful attemp. Hope old glory will come again for Nokia, Moto, Sony, BB and taking down Sammy and Apple with all their conspiracy and cartel scenario 😂👌🏼
According to the leaks, it was supposed to have notch and work like iphone X gestures.
I bet ppl started to com0lain on their forum
No more fan of Motorola because Lenovo has ruined the original Motorola and its razr and droid series.
