Apple's business ploy to improve their airpod sales removed headphone jack and just to look different from other bezel less phones created the stupid notch, both useless decisions. And even more crazier is that all Android manufacturers(excluding Samsung, LG and htc) started to copy all these crap. Greatest example of sheep mentality. Sony, also being a premium audio equipment manufacturer ditching the jack, lost its direction completely in mobile division.
Oneplus 5T has no notch, has a bezeless design, has a 6 inch optic amoled screen, it's cheaper and it has a headphone jack.
A phone with the XA2 front bezels+2nd speaker on chin ,xz1 sides and back, please please Sony
Then why did sony not follow the trend of using QHD screen and stay in FHD instead? LOLS!
Just buy LG V30 and all your problems are gone then you will be happy..
Sony designers..do they exist?
I mean, they made the entry level Xperia L2 - 9.8 mm thick, with a 3.5 mm jack.
After that, the great Sony designers made the flagship Xperia XZ 2 - 11.1 mm thick and with no jack. I just cannot understand their logic..
AnonD-708551, 14 Mar 2018Why can't they learn that the phones sale this day are Android with 3.5mm and Iphone.HTC U11 outsold its predecessors. Pixel 2 outsold its predecessor. iPhone 7 outsold its predecessors. Removal of the 3.5 mm port doesn't affect sales negatively.
Anonymous, 14 Mar 2018USB-C on mobile isn't same as USB-C on PC. I , means standard is the same , but physical dim... moreFalse. USB-C is a universal standard. It has the same dimensions regardless of what device it's installed on. All this fear-mongering is just silly.
AnonD-607239, 14 Mar 2018Everybody is doing it but lets only attack Sony. You should read posts on HTC ditching 3.5mm
It was more savage...
Ironic, because the fact is HTC still the best on audio, even with adapter!
This is just plain bs. Please somebody fire the smart @$$ who suggested to remove the jack. We just want to trim down the bezel. That's f*ck*ng it. Retain everything else including the side finger print.
They all lost their mind when they all lost the headphone jack.
Motorola Moto E4 (Verizon) only $60. Has all the basics including removable battery and FM radio. Stick to Moto E series. Motorola and LG are the only brands I plan to stick to and I'm forced to get their entry-level to get the basics.
An insider told me that they couldn't get their designers to fit a 3.5mm jack in their new skinny jeans. The jack & jeans don't flow properly when sitting in Starbucks, something to do with feng shui ...
Not having the headphone jack was a deal breaker for me, as I was looking forward to swapping out my X Performance.
So I'll stick around with it for a bit longer until Sony maybe decides to have the headphone jack again.
No loss. The heaphone output of ALL SONY sounds very low, very weak amplifier. Good Bluetooth headphones are louder for sure.
The other kids are going for bezelless, OLED and dual cameras too. The downfall of Sony mobiles keeps continuing. The CEO, design manager should all get fired.
That explanation doesn't make sense at all. This is why Samsung remain superior than all of them.
Notch (doesn't apply here)? No headphone jack? I'm done with phones. (Flipping the table meme)
Anonymous, 14 Mar 2018USB-C on mobile isn't same as USB-C on PC. I , means standard is the same , but physical dim... moreVery true. I have a headphone (with 3.5mm jack) which I use with my current phone, my old phone and my PC. I also use the FM radio in my phone (which works with any cable with 3.5mm plug).
