Ridiculous explanation. It's like they believe that their customers are idiots. Their dongle-adapter even doesn't suppor quick charging. It's to save material and components increasing their profit while maintaining the high price plus to promote the sales of the wireless earbuds with non removable batteries or in other words planed obsolescence too for the earbuds or pay them the fee in their customer service for a replacement.

All in all, their own interest and making you spend more money if want quick charge or in future expensive earbuds. Hope they flop with this try and learn a hard lesson. The sales results for their shareholders in few months will show the truth.

The 3.5mm jack is small but very hard for some individuals to swallow the fact that things get old and some things are of very old standards compared to the devices they are found in. It would feel more techy if they vaporized. In any case people will adapt like sheep on a hill

This is the lamest excuse from a company who set so many trends! Disheartened Sony fan but that's life. Brands love to play with us the consumers. Let them learn the hard way, no issues

Pepor, 14 Mar 2018My LG V30, which is slimmer and has smaller bezels than the new Xperias *and* a larger battery... moreThat massive vibration motor bull, that took all the room. LG got one thing spot on with the V30, looks. Best looking phone, with top end features, like wireless charging etc, but the screen and cameras killed it.

AnonD-733804, 14 Mar 2018Unless the phone is too thin or the space inside is very limited I don’t see why you would not... moreThey added a massive vibration motor, so no room. Check the size of it.

They should seriously sell the Xperia mobile division. Sony should only focus on making TV and PlayStation. This is the worst design by Sony I've ever seen. Sony should introspect on the visibility of how many Sony mobiles are seen in people's hand. Amongst 100 users hardly 1/2. And on top of it this chubby handset doesn't have the headphone jack 😡

Kiyasuriin, 14 Mar 2018Then it was not clear, Sonu. It was crystal clear, almost unmistakably so. That's how everyone else got it. English is probably not your first language.

AnonD-607239, 14 Mar 2018Everybody is doing it but lets only attack Sony. The love for SONY is making these people to voice their opinions.
SONY was once the GOD of design, audio and camera. And they are still capable. But no one know the reasons behind these stupidity. This time they are losing their own identity.
I am sure from next year no one bothers about SONY like with most do with chinese companies, HTC and APPLE. Now only hope is SAMSUNG which listens people's feedback seriously.

eelpout, 14 Mar 2018yeah, I wonder if with 6mm edges, some of that being glass, they couldn't actually fit the jac... moreGalaxy alpha (6,7mm) and Moto Z play (7 mm) do with a little space to spare, I'm sure Sony could manage to do it, or add a mm to the frame, its not as if is not thicker than that.

What got me more than the removal of the headphone jack is that sony actually has a design language..... really what is it minecraft? Everything is just a brick.

My first android phone was a sexy xperia arc s and I always loved sony products, but the past few years they have been disappointing in their decisions, design and pricing. This loss of headphone jack, is not as bad as a iphone x style notch, but it has made sure that I will not buy a SONY smartphone again. Not because I need the 3.5mm jack that much, but because they copied the removal of a feature based on market trends, not based on design. The jack didn't stop them from making the first flagship waterproof phones but market pressure did?! What about your huge bezels Sony, market pressure did not sway you there?
