The new name is better aligned with the their objective: to find a buyer for the OS.

I believe Google made the new name just to stop Apple from making new wearable devices with new OS alongside watchOS, tvOS, etc.

Used to rock a G Watch R almost every chance I get and I loved every part of. The rugged design, OLED screen and good battery life are a stand out. What didn't age as well is the software since it started to not perform as well as the years go by.

Still rocking with the best looking smartwatch Huawei Watch gen1. I really hope Google doesn't bury the whole os because I've grown to use the watch every day.

Even talking about Apple watch is useless and people was scratching heads when first one came out, was basically mini iPhone. The only reason it's sells it's because it carries Apple logo and and has nice design, mostly people are using it as expensive toy, cause what else you need for? If you fitness person, just buy tiny fitness tracker and does same job as iwatch.

Most things that Google does are failures. The only working application in the past decade are Android(which is in cooperation with OHA) and chrome. You can count Chromebook, Chromecast and smart speakers but the first two aren't exactly successes.

Changing the name and logo won’t change the fact that Google had zero vision and direction for Android wear. Google literally have no idea what they want to do with wearables.

The Samsung Gear S3 Frontier is still the best in Hardware. But the software, support, security, and Applications are still far behind AndroidWear, I mean WearOS.

That's the only thing stopping me from upgrading my watch.... no new watches with better hardware and style, or alternatives with worse ecosystem.

The Apple Watch is the default winner, but I hate it's curved fat rectangle design. I want it in a thin circle fashion, in a decent Man-Size.

So far it's been terrible. I'm Android user and still waiting watch - good looking, not oversized and usable OS. So far only Samsung, but I never liked huge watches, so even that isn't for me.

I mean, I do think this would work!

I say this because I’m in the gadget world, however I’m also a typical ‘I’m stuck in the apple ecosystem’ kinda guy. I hate myself for it because I know I can do better but I’m also lazy. There are countless iPhone users like me.
I had an Apple Watch because I loved the idea. I really thought it was gonna be life enhancing and so I used it about three weeks and haven’t bothered charging it since. I’ve always like the idea of a smart watch that wasn’t shite.

So, I didn’t have any idea Android Wear/Wear OS worked with Apple. I’m gonna research them right now. I’m a marketers wet dreams.

So, that’s why I think this will go well. I’m typical.

The first thing that turned me off about Android Wear was default-on notification for all apps. I had to turn notification off for each app so I can leave just the 3 or 4 that I actually need their notifications to appear on the watch. And the whole interface just wasn't right. Tizen does a better job while the Huawei TalkBand that detaches to become an earset is quite practical.
