Petr, 20 Mar 2018No wonder. Mediocre HW combined with terrible software for that price? Who would buy it?Mediocre hardware? Samsung literally supply every other phone maker with hardware components from screen to camera sensor to RAM to flash storage.

That's bad considering it's the best smartphone out right now. It's literally the best in every aspect including camera, screen, speakers and features. People shouldn't stop buying it just because it looks like the S8.

The S9 Plus is what the S8 Plus should have been in the first place and the exorbitant prices of both don't help either.

Seems to me like good news from Korea. If Sams cannot fool anybody at home, with those prices, there'll be some major discounts worldwide, say 50%..plus basket of goodies..

GSMArena, why are you so slow in covering a news from tech world?
Lenovo S5 has already been launched and there is no news about it on GSMArena. Why do I have to visit Gizmochina.com for the latest news? You guys need to change your way of reporting. Be the first one and reliable one. I have been a frequent user of GSMArena.com and it is my only favourite place where I can get to know about what's going around in the tech world.
Gizmochina is so quick that everyday they cover 15 stories but their UI sucks.
I am a loyal and very frequent visitor so I need you to take this as a feedback and take it into consideration.

Samsung need to make a flat version, all the people who don't mind the curved edges and the distortions that come with it have already bought an s8. I'd buy an a8 except I want the telephoto camera and Netflix in hd.

I am rooting for Samsung because all the other phone manufacturers are screwing up by removing the headphone jack and poor dual camera implementations. Samsung need to give up their insistence on curved edges for flagships though, it's limiting sales.

Even better would be square rather than curved corners and an RGB rather than pentile sub pixel structure, but one step at a time and that is Samsung need to offer the choice of a flat screen.

The article is very misleading. Yes, there are hefty subsidies offered by the carriers but the subscribers ultimately end up paying a full price as they're locked in for a multiple year contract (24~60 mos depending on the plan). It's no different than the deals you get in the U.S. with major carriers where you buy it for $200 but end up paying for the full price in installments over the contract period. The difference is the phone price installments are hidden in monthly rates charged by the carriers in Korea.

Heh... I am not surprised. after an upcount (the opposite of DIScount) of about 129% I would've done the same thing.
