I really disslike this App-hysteria.
Mobile web-sites could be evolved to include all the same features as apps (integration with built in GPS, and so on).
That would gain everybody, no matter what phone they use.
Or tablet. Sites scales better than apps.
Instead teams has to develop apps, for loads of cash, and then do it twice or trice, or even more, to work on the top dogs smartphone OSes. And the rest is forgotten.
And often apps may introduce some new features, but lose several.
Jeromeo, 19 Aug 2011The US is the nation which invented the cellular phone.
The US is the nation with the most lu... moreActually USA did not invent the mobile phone.
Several of countries were involved.
The Cell-technology comes out of sweden. The dialer also comes out of sweden.
The firt mobile phone call was made in sweden.
But there were other coutries involved as well. I just dont remember.
Just because Motorola made the first production mobile phones does not mean they themselves invented it.
The US is the nation which invented the cellular phone.
The US is the nation with the most lucrative smartphone market on the planet.
Just because the sheer numbers of internet usage vs. apps reflect differently because of India & China (both of which are catching up exponentially) doesn't mean that the US isn't Setting the future global trend...
It is better to have dedicated apps for some task
as dedicated apps provide the required user interface readily and your device just need to download the required data, which save on your time and data usage.
The interface on a mobile app is much smoother than using the mobile site, makes total sense
I think I'd rather visit mobile sites than install dubious apps that require access to my camera, location data, phone status, log files etc.
Those apps just meant for transition. Once our phone getting enough processing power for fluent full desktop browsing (as compare to those incompetent mobile site), who would bother to download specific apps for specific site? Switch between apps isn't as easy as loading up a new tab on current flagship device (s2, Atrix and etc ...)
Good observation regarding this servey done..
I thought this was a post about sammy's new IceCream Sandwich device with SuperAMOLED HD display.. =O
given reliability of US networks I'm not surprised. The dedicated app can use a lot less bandwidth than a web-site.
