I was hoping a great company like HP will produce something that works for me and not the other way around. I don't think that is ever going to happen. I will just have to finally give up on all of them and eventually settle for an iphone...

if only nokia bought webos, hp does not have the resources and marketing strategy for selling phones. if its nokia's hardware and webos software. its gonna make a difference.

HP made a mistake in manufacturing very tiny phone. As anyone anywhere in the planet whether they want to buy the phone. Not many. The OS doesn't matter to me as long as the phone is at least 4 inch will be good. Decent processor is a must.

Wow. A lovely OS, gone? That's a shame.
if some of the smaller and newer Cell providers had a crack at the phones (e.g. Wind, Mobilicity in Canada with the AWS frequencies) maybe the hunger and buzz for such devices would have been given a fair chance and taken hold.

I can only hope a hungry and new cell manufacturer picks scoops up the WebOS system (if it goes on sale) and makes good use of it.

Ecosystems are key in this competition, but from my own experience, they aren't the end all be all for all users.

                  HP doesent have a clue.
They should help Palm and learn from them how to build proper smart phone with intuitive software on it. Instead, they destroyed something good... same story with Compaq.
There is no good ideas in HP to build something new, good and briliant.
HP become large dinosaur, producer of goods for average consumer... there is no ingenuity any more.
Maybe there is still a great amount of money, HP is big, but where is the Palm's spark of good idea how buisnes phone should look and work?!

                  P.S.
I write this on very ugly HP laptop. From larger producer of very ugly, tasteless PCs...

hp should go for android os, they have great design and devices, a switch will be a success for them. i hope they will consider that as an option.

their WebOS software is smoking, while their phone form factor SUCKS bigtime. a stone like phone is the ugliest phone, maybe they would consider a candybar phone and they would sell it like hotdogs.

Well, if webOS is created way before android and iOS came about, it will probably be popular.. But then again, webOS was created to compete with iOS... Just too little too late..

i though that them buying Palm was a wrong move, cuz HP cant or wont be able to make it with the big guys in mobile development!
and as you can see, one of the giants (Nokia) is now struggling to compete.
now, i think the future for WebOS is to wait in the shadows until one of the major companies buy it. and either they will raise it again as a new mobile OS , or they will merge it with their own mobile OS.

Or HP don't want to know how, because Cupertino payed for it.
