I have small hands so.....
yes of course we need it i like the sony compact but only with 1080p display and the 5 inch screen size
Anonymous, 25 Mar 2018You must not have a brain then. You probably only play candy crush on your phone, try playing ... moreEven the difference between the s7 edge and s9 plus in regards to gaming on the handsets their is a really big difference
I love the size of Nokia 7 (not Nokia 7 plus) and LG G6
Chip sort of has a point that most people who want smaller phones aren't going to play high end games/watch videos a lot, the problem is there aren't any choices.
People who like smaller phones still want good build quality, snappy performance and good cameras, and there's only the iphone 8 and xz2c that are close to that now.
r33fd, 25 Mar 2018Considering to upgrade my old note 4 I find it very disappointing that there are very few wide... moreYou've got a point, screen width is stuck at the same point for years.
The original mi mix gave so much screen real estate for large phone fans, now they're less wide and taller.
We need them more than ever, as you can see from the poll, but manufacturers are lazy and stupid, it's much cheaper and easier to make a huge phone with a small batttery than to really invest in miniaturization.
Come on get real will you. The original iphone has a 3.5" screen no one then complained the screen was too small to type on. infact everyone thought the screen was huge. No people are wingeing about a 5"screen. There is and always will be a thrist for a top end compact phone just the same as there will be for the so called phablet.
Where does the sizes begin and end????? under 4.8" is compact? anything over upto 5.5" is standard? anything over is phablet am i right?
So when samsung releases the Galaxy S9 Alpha with 4.7" screen but the power of an S9 it will simply clean up in sales. would you buy one? oh wait its too small to type on NOT!!
Not everyone can use/like big screen, but big screen devices can have more hw and more usage options, its the only way it could go. Actually compact ones and even non xl siblings are not really so much flagships anymore, more like best latest model in that size, not best specced product. Until we use AR glasses instead, hw will be always limited by size of body you hold in hand.
Do we still need compact flagships? Compact -yes, are they still flagships to you -not sure.
I atleast need a 5.5in phone
The best for me is a 6in phone or higher
The problem is every company follow/copy each other.
Without doing some reserch noch, no headphone jack, hybrid sim, no qwerty /slid phone, only phablet flagship. Im sure if iphone come with styler all companies goona folllow that too.
Now all phone looks same to me . I miss 2000-2010 😪

ZloiYuri, 25 Mar 2018We need all variety of sizes, colors and features. Same thought. I am in the camp of compact flagships btw.
5" is my maximum, you need to be able to cater for customers that prefer a big screen and a small without compromising the software on the compact model.
5" is medium size. Anything smaller is small and anything bigger is big. Why is the editor making it seem like 5" is small?
Flagship phones should come in all sizes. I know for a fact there's still demand for compact flagships which is why Sony (compact), Google (non-XL) & Apple (non-plus) & a few others bother making them still. Although only the Sony ones are truly compact among them.
I don't sit down and use my phone. It's always "on the go". This goes for using it as a walkman while excercising, action cam while biking, texting while shopping, using gps while searching for a store,...
This means smaller is better, but i do need al functions from a flagship.
When i arrive home I sit down and use my 10" tablet for browsing or youtube or games or whatever.
Would love for apple to make an SE with the same chassis as the SE but bezeless, that would be perfect, still easy to hold and use but still that slim thin body to use one handed and small in the pocket.
around 5.3" is a very sweet spot but instead we have the marketing trick of 18.5:9 screens and phones are once again getting bigger
