Bigger isn't better
Smartphone isn't tablet
Compact flagships are truly great unlike their size..
AnonD-170381, 25 Mar 2018"And have you tried gaming or typing on a 5" device? It's not possible to touch the screen and... more5.0 inches is small?
there was NO such thing as a 5.0 inches screens when smartphones first started actually brands where FIGHTING about how made the smallest screen (and because touch screens was hard to make) for them 5.0 was a TABLET
I have big hands, so a small phone is hard for me to use.
But I also dont want a phone that has 15, 15.5 or 17cm.
No matter if it is 60 or 100% screen.
Yeah the S9 (size, not phone) is ideal.
Anonymous, 25 Mar 2018You must not have a brain then. You probably only play candy crush on your phone, try playing ... moreI play rules of survival on a galaxy s4... Currently typing this on that same galaxy s4... Which has a 5" 1080p screen
Its like asking do we need small city cars or utility trucks...
We need both. The End.
"And have you tried gaming or typing on a 5" device? It's not possible to touch the screen and see what's on it at the same time."
lmao i wonder how we get through all these years . Most hilarious argument i ever see .
Not everyone wants phones bigger than their hands, myself included.
Unfortunately, not all markets have compact flagships. Here in the Philippines for example, the XZ1 and XZ2 Compact (likely won't be available) isn't officially available here unless you buy from the grey markets without official warranty (so you're basically screwed if the phone is defective or has issues). I once thought of buying the XZ1 Compact on the grey market (those online sellers like Lazada) but decided against it due to lack of official warranty.
The only "compact" flagships here are the non-plus iPhone and pseudo-compact phones like Huawei P series and the regular Galaxy S (not the bigger ones) series. Really disappointed.
I say yes. Pleaaaaaaase! (Galaxy Alpha 2). Not everyone wants or needs a phablet.
Having small hands, I greatly prefer smaller screens on phones, and smaller phones in general. Flagships aren't just about gaming or consumption on a big screen. They offer other advantages. The biggest and most important one for me is that flagships tend to support a wide variety of LTE/WCDMA bands, and I need them, as I'm not always in the same country. I also care about having a lot of internal storage. Other people will care about having a good camera.
The state of things is rather sad right now for people who like small but powerful phones.
Anonym, 25 Mar 2018I sounds like an oxymoron to market a "compact flagship" (ie. size is a premium) but then not ... moreWell show me a modern bezelless ratio android phone, that is the same size, or smaller than a Nexus 5, iPhone 8, or the original Moto G. You can't because screen size still matters. Manufacturers see shrinking bezels as a reason to stuff a bigger display on, instead of shrinking the phone.
5.2 inch is just perfect for small compact phone like Xperia Z/XZ series
Proud owner of a Huawei P10. Even thou the design resembles an Iphone 6/6s and is somehow old for 2018 designs, is still compact and very easy to use at 5.15".
Don't need anything larger than 5.5".
How about an option both
for some reason phones have gone too big
back in the first days of the touch screens it was normal to see a 3 inches screen but now 5 inches for a mini....why?
Because touch screens have been SO DAMN expensive
I mean when the flat screen TV first came out no one cares because it was pretty much like there cathode TVs but the TOUCH SCREEN!?!?
What kind of magic is that?
a colored mirror that react when you touch it?
just like the 1080p display on tablets it is easy and cheap to manufacture but......it is just to good it should be only used on flagship right? greedy companies >:$)
We need all variety of sizes, colors and features.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 25 Mar 2018And one current trend that can be linked to your saying is bezel. A few years back when bezele... moreI sounds like an oxymoron to market a "compact flagship" (ie. size is a premium) but then not care that much about bezels. Here's the thing, we now have phone with bigger screens that are physically the same size as yesterdays phones, thanks to the smaller bezels. Plus, with the changing display ratios, one should be more careful comparing todays screen sizes just by their diagonal.
TL;DR lets focus on the actual size of the phone, not the diagonal of the screen. Obviously that, when size does matter, a smaller phone with the largest diagonal (ie. smaller bezels) is what everyone wants -- why waste space when space is at a premium?
I can't vote because I love big screens but I understand that having smaller screens and phones is also good.
Sometimes I find my phone too big to handle it comfortably, but when watching a movie I like my big screen.
And small phones are so cute! Lol
