I couldn´t care less for the notch I kinda like it to be honest, and I also think that the person behind the OG TIC MASTER user name needs therapy of some sort... implying that the notch is copied but what about the sharp and the Essential PH1 being completely ignored?

What i have learned is to not trust them anymore and to not buy their phones. They abandoned the OP 2, they have limited the major updates to two in any released phone since then, they usually ask what customers want and then do other thing, like the promise of maintain the price last time and increase it again as every year but using cheaper cameras. The were requested to support Project Treble in OnePlus 5 and 5T but they refused do it closing each time more the doors to the developer community, buy the OP6 if you want it, perhaps. Now they tell you what you must like and love... and of course the ugly notch is the perfect excuse to rise the price again because is more expensive... so they can increse that quantity plus the yearly extra because they are the chic and you must buy, follow, obey them and their brand.
NO NO, NO-tch buy, keep your phone taking dust at Oppo's facility.

Notched screens are more expensive than regular shaped screens, because of R&D costs will go up if they'd redesigned the screen or radically change the phones design. OnePlus will increase price for implementation of notched displays and will stick to metal phones because it's more cost effective than redesigning to glass body including built in wireless charging.

Which is what Android P will most likely bring. I would take the dish cause that is unlikely to be included in the buffet, just like the extra space is not included in a non-notched phone. There is absolutely nothing to lose if you get an extra dish or extra space, you can always choose to not use it while giving others who want to, the option to use it.

Learn to love the notch! I never loved your phones since op5, ok. You killed the originality so why bother anyway. Sony is way better than OnePlus. Just accept that notch isn't at our interest, or lose fans at your own cost.

I hope OPO6 doesen't sell well, The Oneplus One was a community design, the team worked with the community to make the best phone they could. Nowadays OnePlus tries to be like Apple in terms of their fans. They should cancel the OPO6.

Of course there's a large quantitiy of notched screens available, so the screen is cheap(er). But I think it will cost them more than a re-design. Especially because of all the haters of the notch.

Once Apple designs something for the iPhone, the components supply chain goes into overdrive.
Apple's competitors are not copying Apple's designs, but rather hitching a ride on the Apple supply chain to get cheaper discounted components from suppliers. Such components would be readily available notched screens or back end with vertical dual camera cutouts, etc.

Not sure why they would copy that useless notch, oh well most chinese companies immitates other companies design and idea. There's no such thing as original in China.

Why don't they make completely bezeless phone and just put a another screen on the back with cameras, speaker, microphone and everything else? problem solved no notch no bezels 2 screens
