Narrowly beating G6 is not an achievement to be proud of. I own a G6 and its battery life is mediocre at best. Usually 5 hours SOT.
I expected more from Sony. They used to rock until they dropped Stamina in Marshmallow. My old Z1 Compact was a blast.

My xperia ZL is running on Android 7.1 (lineage os) with a brand new battery for 1 year now. Still able to last more than 24 hours. No gaming, just social media and whatsapp. Not bad I must say.

G6 is third? Seriously? I own it and it, honestly, has really bad battery life... All because of 7.0 and its weird "Phone idle" bug.

Isnt it weird how in real life we dont see have these numbers!? Any reason my Note 8 at work loses its battery in 15 hours or even 8 although i do mostly text, few calls, and check my email only!!!

You don't even have to take their word for it, just check Gsmarena's own database. Compared to flagships from Google, Samsung, HTC, Oneplus, Apple etc. the XZ2/Compact have the same or better battery life. V30 and Mate 10 Pro does beat them however, but that's still a good result from Sony.
