A Mi device with specs lower than Redmi (Note 5 [Pro])? It's hard to believe...

The Xiaomi A1 could have been a great seller if they had put a 4000 mAh battery in it instead of a 3000 mAh one. There other models like the Redmi Note 4 (4X) had the same specs minus the dual camera for a comparable price but went on to sell millions because of the huge battery and reasonable mid-range performance.

A side note: On long four-hour train trips, I always chuckle to myself (I own a Redmi Note 4X) when I see iPhone users gripping their iPhone and a huge portable battery together while web surfing. Meanwhile, I surf the web, play games, check messages and social media for the entire trip with my $200 Xiaomi and still have 50% by the time we get off the train. Does your phone really look so attractive with a huge battery pack wired to it? Doesn't your hand get tired having to hold the two together for such a long time? Yes, your phone is faster and your camera probably takes a better low-light photo but how often do you really notice these differences?

This may never become android one. Mi A1 did not sell as well as xiaomi expected it to be. Moreover google is no more involved in software development for Android one phones, its just OEM who is investing time and resources to mach up to pixel releases. And these upgrades are buggy. Xiaomi can earn far more with a Miui based device by selling user data. In stock android only google and other apps gets to collect and sell user private data.

Xiaomi is releasing too many product lines now that they have no choice but furthering product differentiation. It used to be that Mi A1 and Redmi Note 4 were pretty much on par, with Mi A1 having an edge in dual cameras. Now that Redmi Note 5 also sports dual cameras, Mi A2 has to be different enough, settling for lesser chipset/battery while reserving the metal unibody and telephoto cam features lacking in Redmi Note 5.

Even the Mi Mix line is now eating into the domain of the Mi line (what would the Mi 7 offer that Mi Mix 2S doesn't have?). Only the Mi Max still has its own niche.

The question I have is: Given that can only read up 24 mp and has a 20mp and 8mp how will it use them?

                                A sure DISSASTER.
With the SD 636 on their CHEAPER devices, this is an INSULT For the intelligence of the chinese and indians consumers.. No Surge S2? What a joke.

And MiA2 is supposed to come AT LEAST with the Snapdragon 636.... So.. MiA2 is a Redmi Note 5 (Pro) with USB C and Android One.
