Anonymous, 09 Apr 2018well.. the easiest solution is: to ask those china phone factories to produce cheap china phon... moreYou are an ignorant person calling nokia a chinaphone with just a sticker. Just get a chinaphone and a nokia and disassemble both of them to know the difference between both.
Well, Nokia beat you to this article!
I don't care which brands comes back, as long as they introduce something new. Nokia brought GUARANTEED updates, maybe someone should bring new trends that aren't notches and lack of headphone jacks.
Toshiba! That phone had a great feature. It ended ALL the calls on it's own!
Wait that wasn't a good thing since it pre-dated telescammers.
We already saved BlackBerry from extinction, and Nokia has been Jurassic Parked back to life... the other ones died for a reason. Let's leave them be.
Anonymous, 09 Apr 2018I want to see HTC come back from the (almost) dead. They make excellent phones, they just hav... moreand non-existent advertising, there was no adverts anywhere in the north of the UK or on TV. in comparison the moment Samsung or apple is due a release it's plastered on the side every bus, billboard and network window in the country. that's the reason HTC is struggling they don't put money where it's needed.
I don't miss those old and dead brands. As this world is belong to survival of fitest or the one who successfully adapts to the present can have a future.
Those old brands misjudged the market and technology, hence perish like Dodo.
Anyway old Nokia could have the current Samsung if they have chosen Android instead of Windows. But they failed to do so and became history.
The current Nokia is just a shadow of old or brand name. They lack the innovation, quality and reliability like old times now.
Another brand I want to to talk about Blackberry. After old Nokia, BB was the second preferred brand. They have something special about them. Unfortunately it is also sold to a Chinese firm and was good as Chinese cheap brand now.
Anyway I don't think any of these old brand will be come back and successful like old time. They are done and gone forever.
Also I can say that most of the popular current brands like HTC, Asus, Sony, Moto (after the takeover by Lenevo, it is crap now) etc will be dead in next 5 to 10 years. Reason most of them are now lack creativity and innovation. They are copying design from Apple or Samsung.
But I am very optimistic about 3 brands for next few years which will be very strong. First Apple, second Samsung and third Huawei.
I really miss sagem n siemens. I hope the will come back but not selling nostalgia like nokia and blackberry did
SAGEM!!! Sagem anyone? Sagem is famous for manufacturing military communication equipment..
Anonymous, 09 Apr 2018Here is some brands I want to die:
Nokia (return to the dead really, it offers nothing new ... moreNOKIA produced one of the cheapest flagships Nokia 8 disregarding Chinese brands compared to overblown price of other brands. Nokia is being helmed by HMD which is a Finnish company just outside Nokia HQ in Finland. Does Arto Nummela, Florian Seiche, Juho Sarvikas sound chinese to you?
SONY may be chugging along in phone business. But they are one of the leading camera innovator like 960fps and the pioneer of 4K display. Most of other brands depend on Sony for camera sensor. What brand are you using now?
HTC 11., Although it is less advertised it is simply one of the best camera right up there with the pixels in term of quality.. Your ramblings are merely assumptions based on your malnourished knowledge in today's phone.. I suggest you go and read all the latest news and reviews to get up to date lest be branded as an ignorant troll
i soo remeber wanting a neonode back in the day there. Man it was hyped! but i think i bought an Nokia N80 or someting instead ot it. Can't remeber
xXENDER FREAKXx, 09 Apr 2018And also for those using mobile version they have to switch to desktop version to editOhh never knew that, I always comment from my laptop lol, tnx
Nobody cares about Nokia. Quality belongs to Ericsson, Philips, Palm, Siemens, Sharp, Toshiba, LG, Samsung, Xiaomi, Motorola.
Thank God Sony is still alive.
The brands I want to see dead: Apple, Microsoft and Nokia.
I dearly miss Palm. The shell of my old Treo e850 still lies in the corner of my electronics cabinet in memory of fond times. Was my first ever smartphone.
I want to see HTC come back from the (almost) dead. They make excellent phones, they just have bad management decisions. :/
Not to forget "Trium" by Mitsubishi Electric, they once had many advanced devices.
The "Mondo" for example was one of the first Windows Pocket PC devices back in 2001
AnonD-493531, 09 Apr 2018Please, get Psion back with a bonafide physical keyboard. Maybe Handspring, NEC and even Philipsi agree, always wanted a Psion.
Here is some brands I want to die:
Nokia (return to the dead really, it offers nothing new yet fanboys are buying because of the name). Also they are mostly chinese at this point, far from old Nokia.
Sony (trite design, zero support after a while, bad specs, overpriced, need I say more? Oh they do this sh** consistently for years)
HTC (amazed that is still alive. Ever since HTC One every year is worse than the last. Bad cameras, some of the lowest battery life in the market, entrenched in bad designs)
Blackberry (well it's mostly dead, but even as a carcass it is unseemly)
I really love to see Ericsson come back with the new smartphone. When I was in High School, I used T65i, and its a phone for the people who know the technology, and have a great price. Not a phone that know the people with the high price.
I dont even want to name brands to make a comeback, I just wish there would be more than just 2 big names (Samsung, Apple) a third really big one that changes every now and then (LG, Huawei, Xiaomi) and around 5 struggling once (HTC, Sony, Moto/novo, Oneplus/Oppo, Blackberry). I know there is brilliant Meizu, Vivo, Gionee, ZTE, Nokia, etc. phones, but really they do get outadvertised by the once named before.
What people do get is a monopolized market. If you ask the people around you to name Brands they may know 4 brands making phones, but they actually barely bought anything but sam and apple...this is sad, there is so many devices, with oh so many reasons to support them...people just stick to advertisement like glue. Wish there would be a way to support stuff like essential, yota, sharp more than one customer alone can do...
