Anonymous, 10 Apr 2018Except on bluetooth and LTE category, P60 is better than S636. CPU/GPU/ISP/AI, all is betterOnly DSP which is also used for AI that is Tensilica P6 DSP is better than Qualcomm QDSP om S636 & S660.

Anonymous, 10 Apr 2018Usually, releasing sources is OEM's job. On Android One, it's a little different, Google paie... moreYou can expect 20~25 less performance from P60 but when compared to A509 found on S636 (which you ware not even capable writing corectl). When compared to the S512 it's G72 on P60 is more then twice slower it even loses from A510 & MALI T880 MP4 in some 20% margin.
So in the future do your math before spreading lies upon decent folks!
Their is no direct comparison available results are calculated based on both Kirin 970 G72 MP12 & Exynos 9810 G72 MP 18 implementations. But just for fun hire is a Mali G71 MP8 @ 1024MHz comparation to A512 at S660.

ZolaIII, 10 Apr 2018It's not even up to S636. What is worst than S636 :
      - bluetooth (4.2 vs 5.0)
      - LTE (cat 7 vs 12)
      What is between 636 and 660 :
      - singlethreaded CPU capabilities (2.0ghz A73 vs 1.8 and 2.2 rebranded A73)
      - mostly GPU on Opengl
What is really close to 660 :
      - multithreaded des CPU capabilities (due to higher frequency on cortex A53)
      - gaming with Vulkan API
What is better than 660 :
      - Tesselation capabilities of the GPU
      - ISP Capabilities
      - building process
What is probably close to 845 :
      - AI capabilities

I must explain my opinion about GPU, as we are disagree :
Mali T880mp2 is very close to Adreno 506 on Opengl and in real game.
      https://gfxbench.com/compare.jsp?benchmark=gfx40&did1=54070363&os1=Android&api1=gl&hwtype1=GPU&hwname1=ARM+Mali-T880+MP2+%28dual+core%29&D2=Xiaomi+Mi+5X+%28A1%29
Adreno 509 is about 50% better than 506
G72MP3 should be 70% higher than T880MP2 (50% due to additionnel core, 20% due to core improvement)
Adreno 512 is about 100% better than 506.
Here are comparative performances in Opengl :
      Adreno 506/MaliT880MP2 : 100%
      Adreno 509 : 150%
      P60 : 170%
      Adreno 512 : 200%
With Vulkan API, P60 would be closer to S660 due to closer CPU.

And Detailed scores on AnTuTu (bad benchmark, often gives avantage to Qualcomm, I can explain too).
      P60 : 29000
      S660 : 30000.

Experience and tests shows me that you can't trust in Basemark or in Gflops.
(On standard Opengl, Apple get often better ps results than Adreno with half thé Gflops!!!)

Alice, 10 Apr 2018Disappointed and disenchanted with the SoC and the battery. A phone with Android One should be... moreIt's not open at all. Android One, Silver and Gold are Googles property closed source OEM programs. Base is still AOSP but not quite a same thing. Still if you want AOSP official support you don't buy Googles but Sony. If you want LineageOS then you buy what's ever popular with Qualcomm SoC.
I do think things will get much better for AOSP now with Treble requirements (unified kernel infrastructure and tree infrastructure) along with it's direct derivates and extensions at least on Qualcomm SoC's.

This is terrible if this is the A2. Forgot stock ROM and custom ROMs, install the updates from Google by yourself, etc. Without the SoC source code (Mediatek never release it), you will depend completely on Xiaomi every time a change or update in the OS requires updating the SoC drivers.

And the question is... How often Xiaomi updates the Android version (OS)? Remember Android One is not MIUI UI....

On Android One, it's a little different, Google paies the job!

Previously, Google released Android One with old mt6582 or mt6735...sources are available on Google github.
                https://android.googlesource.com/kernel/mediatek/

                P60's GPU isn't weak...
You can expect, about 15-20% less FPS on Opengl 3.1 API compare to S660 according to 3Dmark
About 10% less on more avanced Vulkan API according to 3Dmark
Better Tesselation performances for newer games.
P60 offers better ISP for camera, better building process (12nm), far better AI (close to Apple A11!!!)
But only bluetooth 4.2 and cat 7 LTE

But on Tenaa, what appears is a 2.2ghz octocore. P60's frequency is 2.0ghz.
In my opinion, it will be S626 (far weaker than P60!) or a S660

If they use MediaTek, I will say that the Redmi Note 5 Pro is definitely a better deal. I was expecting Mi A2 to come with SD 640 or 636.

"That would be a fine alternative to the S835"
Why are you comparing to Mi 6? This is a successor to Mi 5X, so it should be compared to SD625 instead.

A Helio chip and low battery capacity combined with a big screen.. a not buy. Suddenly the Chinese Note 5 Pro looks way more attractive with is S636 and 4000 mha battery
