It's definitely a status thing. Most teens only care about two things: emojis and camera. They get both along with the Apple logo, they're golden. I.T. folks like myself know that Android is miles better because of the creative freedom, way better battery life, and more functionality. Apple only has performance and camera but iOS is a pain in the crack.

I'm a massive Android user I have an S9 and I work for a UK phone company and with teenagers the iPhone is more wanted by teens and even people in there early 20's.

US teens not naving a critical thinking or a basic common sense is not exactly a big news. They are eating Tide pods for Instagram likes and shoot eachother with guns at schools ffs.

Status symbol is definitely a part of the reason why American teens want an iPhone. There is a YouTube video of someone asking around Washington Square (NYU's quad in Lower Manhattan) and more than 90% of the people there uses iPhone. That's around a school that charges $50,000 a year in tuition and average apartment price in the area is above $1 million.

Disgusting is right. I used to be an Apple Fan Boy until about 2011 or 2012 when Apple was taken to court for colluding with a group of publishers for colluding to push up the price of e-books. The publishers paid their fines, not sure if Apple has yet as they appealed but they were supposed to pay a $400 million fine. Maybe teenagers are too young to know about this or they just don't care much about books. That's not the only reason I got turned off from Apple though: too expensive, forcing you to pay more for internal memory by not allowing SD Cards, very expensive to upgrade to models with more internal memory - one year offering a choice between 16 GB and 64, no 32, just so you'd have to pay more, not able to use a mouse with their iPads to preserve Macbook sales, poor customization options, etc. This company is just too greedy and controlling for my liking.

If Android had imessage, Apple would disappear... moreWhile I'd like to believe this there are alternatives anyway like facebook messenger and whatsapp, they aren't universal and maybe a more universal approach would have a greater tangible effect but I don't believe it would be so simply to get the kids off of the iphones. If all the other problems associated with apple's closed off attitude and overcharging haven't dented them then I doubt an imessage equivalent will do much.

Meh. This might be for the US, but in the north, the situation is much more balanced (well, Apple has almost 45% here and Samsung has a big chunck of the rest, with only flagships). Sure iPhones are a favourite of a lot of demographics but it's not a constant.
I have to say that here, the most influenciable groups of persons, read younger teens and poorer teens, will have a huge tendency over Apple. But after 16, the situation is balanced between Android and iOS. One of the reasons being that droids are more "fit" for their own "personality" (V20 for the audiophile for instance) and more unique.
But of course nothing can beat the disgusting amount of targeted ads this demographic group gets.

It's simply an impulse that some teens have (regardless of gender). Attracted to something that's famous and almost all famous people have. But like other comments before have said. Few really hardly use the phone. Just for showing off. Lets be honest we use android devices because we can pretty much do anything with it. Heck you can even change the damn UI if you really wanted to.

guys it is normal, if i had a chance to buy iPhone for 0$, 99$ or 199$. Probably you would forget about what is Android..:) Do not judge anyone before starting racist comments
