Anonymous, 16 Apr 2018Except hardware performance has very little to do with lack of quality games on smartphones.Apple benchmark is kinda fake cuz they use less pixels than Android phone. If you throw a QHD screen, the FPS of the game will be abysmally lower. This is the reason, for example, why an iPhone 8 is so much faster than an iPhone 8 Plus or an iPhone X, cuz it has fewer pixels so it’s super fast to render anything.
It’s absurd to use latest top technology for HD nowadays, iPhone 8 is not even FHD.
I’m an iPhone user and at first i was impressed by the speed, but it’s not really true speed once you remember the extreme low resolution from iPhones.

Fulljack, 16 Apr 2018anyone who believes smartphone as gaming device has no future probably doesn't know a thing or... moreYes. If you look closely at comments saying its a gimmick, you will see comments about candy crush and popular games, those are not heavy games. Any old phone can run candy crush.
People who are active with newest heavy games notice how they are extremely demanding, hard to play on high settings if you don’t have the latest snapdragon.

Battery life plays a huge factor. I dont see the point of gaming phone unless the phone can last at least a day of gaming without charging

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018Well, what you said is true. I use my phone 99% for gaming or media consumption and 1% for pho... moreWell... For the matter of usage, I use my device mostly for communication. Although, in term of time vs up-time ratio (time between charges), probably it's not that significant. The thing is, I need to make sure my phone stay alive so my family needs to contact me in case of emergency. So I can't afford to play games on it to drain battery. I guess different people have different usage pattern... :)

About the development of AAA games in recent years, With gaming phones or not, I do hope that mobile games can catch up in term of quality vs handheld gaming. We all do... :)

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2018in android this may be needed - why ? most of the android lags with 6 GB of ram (see note 8). ... morethe problem is not ram. it's the gpu provided by soc. apple only produce high-end mobile soc, so you need to compare it with high-end offerings by qualcomm also. even a11 isn't as strong as sd835 in gaming benchmark

Kiyasuriin, 16 Apr 2018To be exact. RAM is where the data and instructions of an app are stored, so the app can be us... moreThat is certainly true, but there is no RAM hungry app on app stores.
RAM on phones is mainly used for multitasking and keeping the app alive when you open other apps.
It is part of the "power" device has, but it is so insignificant today I ignored it on purpose.

Nobody want to pay 500 bucks for portable gaming.
u can just slap SD660 + 4GB ram + 4000mAH on 5,2" 720p amoled and call it a day. put 2MP front cam and 8MP main cam if u must. make sure it got support for 512 microSD card or something and put $200 price tag. 10/10 would sold like hotcakes.

Gaming phones totally not worth it.

Rather spend the RnD on making a gaming dock for their respective flagships.

Cause games need the following things:
1. Better controls like keyboard mouse / controller . (Touch screen limits the genre of games..)
2. Dedicated graphics / extra battery packs.

A laptop form factor would do nicely.

I believe that a Phone/Smartphone is for day-by-day life ( shopping, internet browsing, texts, music, etc..) I believe that games on smartphones are ok`ish, minding the fact that you could play on a PS Vita instead and use your phone for what matters more.
I like playing logical and puzzle games on my phone when I have spare minutes, however I wouldn`t play PUB G on my phone as that is a total waste of time and battery. I would play PUB-G on a PC where I can enjoy to 100% the game experience and keep my phone for important things.

GSM Arena Reader, 15 Apr 2018You can't bring a PC or play on your PC while in a train.true, but you cannot claim gaming phones are "the" future of gaming. Because not all games are meant to be played in a train...

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018with the rise of games like fortnite and pubg on mobile, definitely, they have to price it rig... moreLoke polemon go before them they would be forgotten before long. Battle royale games are very awkward to play on a touch screen. Literally build from the ground up for controllers/mice&kb

So my answer is no as well.

Gamers phones can only differentiate them through controls. If controls s*ck as much as flagships' one is better off with a flagship anyway (often better camera, *certainly* better design, etc)
