There should have been a third option on the poll, as follows:

1) Maybe, if the correct games are launched and proper software and hardware support is provided to customers.

Frankly I would not mind paying $10 for an ad-less, in-app purchase-less versions of FIFA 18 or Tekken 7 or any other great games available on console and ported on Android. Some game devs are already doing that , but others are acting lazily (Tekken card game is a slap on the face for hardcore Tekken fans).

Also, if it is a gaming phone, a controller is a must for any serious gaming and should be included in the box with the appropriate warranty support. Touchscreen gaming is not real gaming, no matter what kids say these days...

Mobile gaming is going in the right direction, just some few adjustments left:
- stereo front facing speakers
- liquid cooling on more brands (currently on black shark only)
- dedicated physical buttons for gaming
- higher support of gaming developments

For mobile gaming, no need of:
- expensive screen like QHD OLED, FHD LCD is plenty good for gaming
- 120fps is quite useless, most games can’t even process 60fps smoothly, most are fake 60 with simple interpolation
- good camera, maybe a simple camera for AR, but expensive cameras are useless for gamers

Herodroid, 15 Apr 2018Lol, why would gaming phone need better camera? Do u even read what u write. The only reason i... morevery wrong, there is so much difference between them and it is the only area rather than battery that in all phones some kind of sucks, and no need to mention all other aspects of the phones in yearly upgrades.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 15 Apr 2018A true gamer? What kind of specifications stand out for a gaming smartphone like this XIAOMI B... moreUmm.........the blackshark has a new, improved cooling system. You can't really ask for everything at once you know..........especially considering that most proper "gaming" devices are at least 2-3 times bigger than the average smartphone.

I've been gaming since I learned to read properly (on a PC and during the early days, on gameboys). I've already built about a dozen or so gaming PCs for my friends. You don't need to lecture me on how PCs (and consoles) are superior.

Smartphones now can already emulate gamecube games with relative ease. Something, which even entry level desktop\laptop GPUs suffer at. I can literally play Metroid Prime, on a SD 821 phone, when I'm sitting in a bus, stuck in traffic. The only major drawback in that scenario, is the crazy heat (my phone rises to about 50 degrees celsius after 30mins) - the thing that Xiaomi can hopefully address with this phone.

A true, gaming smartphone is still years off. Right now, it's mostly gimmicky products (much like this blackshark phone or even the Razer phone for that matter), with a few enhancements (120Hz display, enhanced cooling, etc)..........but not supporting the platform now, blaming it's limitations, calling it's users "stupid wannabe kids" (Although that statement would be somewhat true), will only put it off further. I'd really like to see more well known and seasoned manufacturers start to jump onto this trend, because the more competition there is, the faster we get to a proper gaming smartphone.

I don't see what you are getting salty about. These phones are quite a bit cheaper than most flagships anyway.

Razer = Lozer. Gaming Phones need special exclusive games to truly impress, then a future would be in good order.

Anonymous, 15 Apr 2018will gaming phones have a future? will our children have a future? expensive purchases with no... moreThe issue why Ngage and Xperia Play failed is because they did try to become something they aren't, a handheld.

Same goes for PS Vita and PSP, as gaming handhelds they did what they were meant for, but multimedia wise they failed because on that part they tried to become what they aren't, a smartphone.

Dedicated portable game machines have significant advantage over so called gaming phone with no support of external controller
such as Razer phone or very poor designed controller which really feel very poorly designed by people who never play games, or, Samsung game controller

It's precision and tactile feedback, that's why PS Vita, 3ds or switch or older grbenatom consoles will always feel better than phones, yes, xperia play came close for best of both worlds though

hopefully sony nintendo nvidia amd them classy true gamer brands will make a unified device to smash that rotten ifruit jibiphone! how will gaming phones have any future when the japanese korean chinese brands are not unifying under a universal standard, what a farce! razer is a joke but even then how good can a gaming phone be without sacrificing something for another?! too small! someday in the future people need eye enhancements from spoiling their eyes on screen too small for comfort!

"Looking at Nintendo sales numbers, we can see why companies want to get in on the action – there’s a lot of money to be made from gaming on the go."

Only most 3ds, DS, PS Vita, PSP or Nintendo Switch games are uncomparable to what most smartphone games are.

Smartphones games are good in what they are most meant for, simple touch screen optimized gaming, it's a complete different level from what a true handheld gaming does.

Not that smartphone gaming is bad, but it should keep doing what it does best and not try to become something it isn't

I think smartphone and their every increasing speed and small nanometer processing is all one needs. That said, a typical phone with a bit of stylish character would be nice.
