Playing VR even on my X Performance fhd screen looks decent and sharp enough, can only imagine how great all that 1080p VR content looks on a 4k hdr screen.

There are other apps that allow you to view 4k content, but aside from Sony, there's NO other brand that can reproduce this. They will soon follow.
And yes, you can clearly distinguish it in when watching 4K HDR content. Otherwise they wouldn't bother with it, spending so much time and money on it.
Stop saying no to technological advancement, even if you don't see the point of it. That's how good things get invented. Other people see the potential in it and discover new things.
100 years ago, people with your ideology said that everything that could have been invented has been invented. But look where we are today and think what the future holds for us. That if we don't nuke ourselves..

Look at Mercedes Benz or BMW or Porsche in world of smart phones: Nokia, Sony and HTC with a few change and with most stability! Honestly, I've no problem with those USEFUL bezels also lack of 3.5mm Jack headphones/earphones finally: before fixing of problems in oled's displays I prefer IPS LCD to oled or amoled! XZ2p is most powerful smartphone (already)

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2018no ois = doa.Nah, IOS in phones is really not that good anyway so just like bookeh effect on phones don't require full frame sensor and instead it gets away with faux software post same principles apply in image stabilization and tracking. In other words cellphone cameras are still crap in anything but occasional point and shoot in well lit conditions.

People still complaining about 4K screen?! if you can't see the superb details in the screen you should see a doctor. and about the battery, even with 4K screen it will live more than S8, maybe S9 too.
We need full review about the phone, mainly the camera.

You can watch youtube videos in 4k, amazon movies in 4k, netflix movies in 4k and your own 4k content will show in full resolution. Also, what exactly is the problem in using the Sony photo or Video app?
And yes, the resolution makes a difference, even on such a small screen. Also the XZP screen is great even in 1080p.

It's as ugly as it can get but if the camera is good, i will buy it anyway. Had an Xperia XZ Premium until a few days ago, and it was the best Smartphone experience i ever had. Blazing fast, update after update, smart software, great screen and battery life.
Compared to my fathers S8 plus, this one felt like it was released 2 years later.
Only sold it because the camera was annoying, but if they can fix that, nothing else is an option for me.
I think much more people would buy Sony phones if they could actually compare them to other devices with the same specs. They just need a modern design and a better marketing team (and a better camera of course).
