Anonymous, 18 Apr 2018uhmm redmi 5? 450 is quite close to 625 in perf and has same gpu too...Ya, but Redmi 5 is clocked slightly lower, at 1.8Ghz.
But yes, you're right, with the same GPU, we're looking at a solid entry level phone, already in the market...
Although I had this idea way before Redmi 5 made it to the market... In the Redmi Note 4 days.
What again mi A1 not in buget how much in buget you mean 100 usd 50 usd or 300 usd ? OMG you mi to many variants you just make hard ways in your self.

It seems this model Redmi S2 has rather strange market position. The spec seems to be between Redmi 5 (with Snapdragon 425 and 720P display) and Redmi 5 Plus (or Redmi Note 5 in China, with Snapdragon 625 and 1080P display) I doubt that there is enough price and value gap between the two Redmi 5 and 5 plus to justify separate new Redmi S2 model with Snapdragon 625 and 720P display.
And the name "Redmi S2" seems strange too. There was no "Redmi S1" or "Mi S1" model. There was Redmi 1S, but it is variation of very early Redmi 1 on 4 years ago. There is smartphone AP named "Surge S1", made by Xiaomi. And there is rumor of Surge S2, sucessor of the Surge S1. But it is said that Redmi S2 will use Snapdragon 625 AP, not "Surge S2" AP. So where the moniker "S2" comes from?
It has 16gb internal memory? No sense in this era, Big no. It should be default to 32gb to 64gb .
its seems like MiA1 with redmi 5 screen. hope this one will get usb type c with fast charging. it will be perfect choice for average user.
Perhaps they want to try 720+ resolution on 7 inch screen. I don't understand what is this diversity in models.

AnonD-746104, 18 Apr 2018Lenovo already did this with their S5 last month. And that has a 1080p screen. But Xiaomu will sell Redmi S2 cheaper than Lenovo S5 and the former specifications, performance and efficiency is much better than the latter. Face it dude Lenovo cannnot compete with Xiaomi or Oppo or ViVo
Lenovo already did this with their S5 last month. And that has a 1080p screen.
snapdragon 625 and 720 screen... sounds delicious.
This could be the S2. It was certified in Indonesia about a week ago along with redmi note 5 (pro) that will be launched today.
Why would we want dual camera if we can just install Google Camera Mod on any xiaomi devices with snapdragon chipset and get nice bokeh effect with only one camera
You know, I had exactly the same idea--> trying 720p on a Snapdragon 625 to ace its performance and efficiency both. And it happens.
Did Xiaomi read my mind?
And now, I'm expecting a solid 45+ fps on the Asphalt 8, quite possible, right?
LostInTheReality, 17 Apr 2018HTC One (M8) has shown us that dual camera doesn't necessarily mean quality / improvement.you could have used alot of other phones to show that dual camera doesnt mean quality but did you really have to use a 4 year old device as an example ? you are saying as if tech doesnt evolve
Why not Redmi S(mall) and with 4.7" screen?
Far far too many models that Xiaomi have.
Eeeeh, just 16GB storage?
