The notable differe... moreHow did u manage that? When I downloaded it gave me 10g which is still 2.2 - which country and region did u choose in the upgrade software? My phone originally is a Singapore handset

Gingerbread is available through custom ROM MIUI and CM7 as flavors of 2.3.4 and 2.3.5.
I would suggest you download these and install instead of waiting for the official update from LG.

The notable differences are:
1. Icons changed.
2. Few apps are removed.
3. Battery life is slightly better
4. Text input has been made easy, especially navigating the cursor.
I updated it on 22-Aug-2011 through LG update tool. The rooting app Gingerbreak no longer works with 2.3.3. Though other alternates are available those alternates are not allowing to unroot as when needed.

I've bought it as a prepaid bundle from Swisscom two weeks ago. It was already running 2.3.3. Low price (CHF 99.00), good device. It has just a too little keypad for messaging.
