You clearly don't need external storage but that doesn't mean other people don't have use for a high capacity micro sd card in a phone with micro sd card slot.

A... moreThe same rules, physical laws apply for phones' internal storage as for microSD cards, because they use the same technology: flash memory. Some high-end phones like Galaxy S7 and LG G5 use MLC NAND internal storage, which means longer lifespan, more reliability. But most phones use TLC storage.

Usind microSD cards is good, because you spread the wear and tear on it instead of the internal storage, thus extend the lifespan of internal storage.

I'm not sure this article makes much sense. This card is rated as A1 and the benchmark proves that the random r/w are within the specs of A1. Over Windows, the speed is 90+ for reads almost on par with whats on the package.
In a nutshell, there was no need for a benchmark as the package fully complies with the specs.
Finally, the author doesn't suggest any other micro SD with better random r/w speeds and I'm pretty sure there aren't many options out there. Concluding to the fact that this card is fine with any other option out there to run apps over it and take videos.
I suspect once A2 is out will see better values.

I am using a 256gb samsung SD card in my S8 since an year and I concluded that Samsung memory cards are the best or atleast they work best in Samsung devices, better than San disk and other cards which never reach close to the advertised speeds and often less reliable.

I have a LOT of kits, ISOs, programs, apks, scripts, documentation, books, offline web pages on my SD card which take a lot of space.
I have everything I need for work on my SD card, on the spot, no headaches about wifi or data.
AND, if i destroy the phone beyond repair, I simply pop out the SD card and insert it into a new phone. I don't cry like a baby because I forgot to sync it before it got destroyed :))
Also, I HATE spying cloud services!
Just because you don't see the benefits of the SD card, don't be one of those stubborn people always saying no. If you don't use it, it's your choice. But a LOT of people use it for PROFESSIONAL REASONS, not only for "multimedia".
By the way, what's wrong with being a multimedia person?
Seems to me your more like a very close minded person and a hater.

Your 3TB PC storage doesn't count. Unless you can bring it anywhere you go just like your phone. Portable external drives and otg flash drives don't count too even if they are portable because they are too inconvenient to always bring with you everywhere together with your phone. They'll only get misplaced or worst, get dropped/damaged or lost.

Most SD cards like Samsung Evo have TLC ... moreA phone and its internal storage is going to last much shorter than a micro sd card storage. And larger capacity micro sd cards last much longer than smaller capacity micro sd cards. In general, newer generation micro sd cards can last 10-15 years, longer than any smartphone internal storage or smartphone battery will. That's the reason phone manufacturers want to remove the sd card slot. Because the phone will be dead anyway and they don't want you to reuse the micro sd card in a new cheaper phone with lower internal storage but with sd card slot because they want to make bigger profits from high internal storage phones with no sd card slot at all. No, it is not because sd cards make phones slow. They don't if you use them the way they were intended to be used: as media storage and not adoptable storage where you store and launch apps and games.

No data needed! Your entire laptop contents inside your phone's external storage. An offline Kiwix encyclopedia ZIM file with photos is around 60GB. An offline full HD movie is around 2.5 - 3.5GB per movie. If you have 10 of those, that will be 25GB-35GB. That doesn't include photos and 4K videos captured by your phone's camera. Once you experience the convenience of having all your media and personal files stored on your phone, you are never going to be happy with just internal storage without expandable sd card storage.

It's because you have a lot more accessible movies and media to watch on the bigger sd card that's actually resulting to longer phone use and screen on time. If not that, then maybe you need to replace your phone's battery as batteries degrade in. capacity with time (normal wear and tear).

I noticed that the bigger card I stick into the phone, the shorter battery life I get as a result - possibly partly because of the amount of data stored, but maybe also because the card itself needs some power? Just wondering, but my phone has shorter battery life since I swapped 64GB card to 200GB one.
