Huawei is not the only Chinese that is making decent smartphones. And there is nothing to clone. We are in 2018, smartphones are more identical than ever before and every company just copying every thing that an other company successfully integrate, either it is Amoled/18:9/no-bezels or it is 3.5mm-drop/notch etc...
It's obvious that the worst thing than you can do is to copy the least innovative Apple of all time, but it's natural.

Huawei makes some decent looking/original phones and not iPhone clones like every single other Chinese company out there but I don't like their custom Kirin SoC, I've used SD for years and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Alien , 26 Apr 2018I'm from Europe and I can tell you that people that are into technology never buy chinese bran... moreWell I am from Europe too and i can confirm that many people have Chinese phones and they know it... First of all Huawei is second best seller in Germany... Actually ppl know that Huawei is Chinese and they don't care because of the build quality... Most of Huawei phones will last 3 years without any problems.. but brands like Xiaomi, meizu, OnePlus... People are just sceptical about because they are new on the market.. and you know... 1st question is is that Chinese cheap piece of technology? Will it last more than half year? EU just isn't informed about many brands... For example i can't find oppo or Vivo in eu warehouse...
Anonymous, 28 Apr 2018Same here lol I'll never buy a Chinese phone again especially now that they're no longer cheap... moreIn my country I can buy an extremely decent smartphone with 130 euros. It's the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.
Cannot find a reason to buy Huawei or Samsung (although they have their pros, their prices is a no deal).
It's funny to tell that you won't buy a Chinese, while all the top 5 companies are producing their smartphones there (except Samsung - but even Samsung have factories there).
P.S: In the other hand I'm not gonna buy a "made" in the USA product, because I dont like to pay the excessed Apple ads neither Apple's golden boys.
Two year or so earlier china brought lot of iphones and a decline in growth followed. Now they brought upper mid-range phones from Oppo and Vivo, which is the cause for latest decline.
It is just that buyers are holding on to their expensive purchases for 2 years or more like in the west.
On the other hand Xiaomi (budget or lower mid-range) is refreshing their devises far earlier.
ProJames, 26 Apr 2018They failed in Canada at the very least (P10 series and GR5)They'll fail in the US too with or without protectionism.
Anonymous, 26 Apr 2018I don't buy chinese brand because malware and don't want to carry a copied productsSame here lol I'll never buy a Chinese phone again especially now that they're no longer cheap unless you buy a mid-range phone which I've never done before anyway.
X=10, 26 Apr 2018You're wrong, and from what part of Europe, are you go across all Europe just to write comment... moreHere in Colorado I see how Samsung dominates because most people still go to the carriers. Why, because in Android there is so much crap to figure out from which apps to little issues like transferring data to the SD card.
Most people do not want to deal with this stuff and so they keep going to the carriers and paying top dollar. Even though at Best Buy you see great phones like Huawei and good prices and people have credit cards but they are afraid of the tech.
I have had mostly LG phones but got a Huawei 5x for my wife and have been wanting to get another Huawei flagship for my use. But I was also thinking of the Samsung S7 but because the S8 has been so popular I am going to get the Samsung S8 which is about $350 on eBay.
Have been using a Moto Z Droid 3500 milliamp battery, and very fantastic phone for last 6 months. Now the tech blogs are saying that Motorola may not be serious about the US market. So they are having problems even though they are owned by Lenovo which makes the ThinkPad very popular line here in the US.
Would really like to try a xiaomi phone but none of them have the US bands
This is a great discussion and it will be fascinating to see what happens with Chinese phone companies in the USA in the future!
Geric.770, 26 Apr 2018True.LG has been beat up by the competition here in the USA but still is available at the carriers.
Huawei is in Best Buy and other online retailers but could not get on the carriers.
AnonD-754421, 27 Apr 2018What's the point in Nova? At that price it's incredibly poorly specced and Xiaomi offers are m... morePoint is that Huawei have Huawei Honor and Nova brand, point is that in Europe Huawei is available in every provider, point is that Huawei have (with sub brands) 20 new phones, only from 2018. Point is that Huawei now sells own phones in EU market like for example Samsung, maybe more, just because they habe offer in new phones in low end and mid range from 2018, and people buys new phones, not old. Samsung does not have, yet. J series (2018) will be for that.
But like i said i agree, Xiaomi have great phones for low price in Mid segment. Redmi 5 Plus for just 150 euros is great phone, Redmi Note 5 for 180-190 euros is actually awesome and bang for buck, really. But Xiaomi phones we need to import ftom China in most cases, or global version, but they need to be import.
In flagship on Android platform, Samsung is still top, even Sony.
And problem with Huawei phones, even with P20 or Pro is that, they use last year processor, and ask price for this year flagship.
Another problem with all Huawei phones with EMUI.. Is that they lower brightness every time when some app is open. But i said for Huawei name they are now where Samsung was in 2011, next year Huawei will be number one in sales worldwide. Not just in the bigest mobile market in the world, China.

"new interesting technology" lol
how about actually reintroduce features you all so quick to abandon in your chase for planned obsolescence scheme?
like I dunno, micro sd slot and SWAPABLE BATTERY. amazing how consumers willingly purchase a ticking time bomb that will make the product they paid money for obsolete without fail in due time.
It might be the RAM craze in China, even the cheapest phones have 3GB, so people won't need to upgrade for a while
some china phones are nearly 500 bucks.. the increasement going higher daily for a new phones.. so to me, better just buy iphone on that kinda price

Here unlike in the US, Huawei is a very trusted brand bigger than LG for ex. They are just behind Samsung in Spain and in France ( my country) they are very successful as well as their high end phones like the Mate 10 pro.

The performances of most of the recent devices have been improved alot, which can easily run well for more than a year... The market is getting flooded with New Phones like anything... So unlike before there's always something good is coming in the upcoming Months, so people opt to wait and bare with the old Device for few more days...
