Anonymous, 28 Apr 2018that price for kirin, no way... too expensive! its not even close to SD845 or latest exinos. ... moreThe price is for the insane camera module and software (AI), which Kirin 970 helps with its dedicated NPU. No midrange SoC scores more than 200k in AnTuTu 7, no midrange SoC has NPU (at least until SD670 a.k.a. SD700 gets released). Kirin 970 is still a flagship SoC, despite released last year. I don't even think any upper midrange SoC up to end of this year can touch its power, maybe next year but certainly not this year.

Nobody care the image quality in daylight, it has heavily purple fringing, never mind no one will zoom in the image.

Until it does, the headphone jack remains.

And screen real estate being wasted on a notification area ONLY, isn't a sane decision.

for a midrange phone, it's ok but this is not a flagship.

Anonymous, 28 Apr 2018Yeah with the same chipset as its last year flagship. Innovation at its best. All of them do it. The S9 and the Note 9 which will be launched in autumn will have the same CPU like the S9, etc. They release a new CPU every year. SnapDragon, Exynos is released at the beggining of every year. Huawei releases a new CPU at its 2nd flagship at the end of every year, so its basically the same.

Zero sanity is not making the simple thought that through using a black background the notch area can play the role of a smart bezel (instead of taking part of the main screen).

Laymen are practical people and see those points. Gsmarena geeks are below that capacity and keep supporting failed ideas (upper bezels are not pretty, they are just a waste of space, the sooner 3.5mm dies the better for all of us)

That's pure brainwashing. Probably only 1% of buyers really need it. The rest are just brainwashed to think they do.

On the other hand, most people really need a 3.5mm jack...yet they are brainwashed to ignore that need and compromise.
