Makes a lot of sense today with rounded cornors on the displays...
As long as the flat square area in the middle of a device is 16:9, I don't see any real issues with notches.
prefferebly with OLED screens so the additional display areas can be turned off, or be completely black.

I refuse to count any of the screen space next to the notches as "screen real estate". It's just a battery life hogging, lit up piece of bezel. Worse than normal bezel space.

Notch concept is great but there should be a option to disable notch. Sometimes it looks irritating.

Companies that manufacture their phones in China like One Plus, ZTE, Nokia, etc, should launch new notch shapes for the notch lovers. Some individual notches for each sensor on the top like pieces of tetris or top towers of the middle Ages, with wavy bottom notch or in form of shark's teeth. With customizable colored stickers for the notches. With notched cases with some interesting holes in several colors, or painted notches. Variety.
