Anonymous, 07 May 2018Though heavily protested by users & buyers, manufacturers keep adding the ugly notch and t... moreWe won't see until the next quarterly results whether the public at large doesn't like them or only phone enthusiasts of a particular inclination, that read GSM Arena don't like them.
Although technically, Essential did release a phone with a notch first, Apple (and it's many leaks) indicated it will release one with a notch months before. Only Essential team knows if they copied Apple's idea or it was entirely their own.
Nevertheless, the Essential phone is a total flop, just like many other Android/Windows based phones with their "first" ideas.
Since the first iPhone, we can all agree that it's not about who came out with what first. It is how well it's integrated into the entire device. Countless Android "first" have already failed because it wasn't integrated well.
I will admit that I returned the iPhone X because at the time, all the software wasn't updated to deal with the X's screen aspect ratio and the interface of apps felt like it's still in beta. This year should be all well and good and I can't wait to get my hands on the 6.4" X(S) or whatever they'll decide to call it.
Though heavily protested by users & buyers, manufacturers keep adding the ugly notch and taking away useful things like 35mm jack and microSD slot. Really makes me wonder who they'd want to please instead of customers?

So not only Apple come out with the product nearly a year earlier Apple also integrated an amazing Face ID tech. What have LG added to the notch to explain the long development time
AnonD-694451, 07 May 2018i hope they add notch to their washing machine, to make it more beautiful & elegant ^_^They better cut out a big huge whopper of a chunk out of my TV too. I want to look like the coolest dude on the street.
I don't know why manufacturers are forcing this notch shit on people
Is very obvious that people hate this shit
I aint a fan of apple nor owned an apple devices before but then.. it is really lame to see the manufacturer(s) touting "We planned it before Apple".
i hope they add notch to their washing machine, to make it more beautiful & elegant ^_^
"LG on notch design: We planned it before Apple" - Why are you even proud for this? :P
Yeah but your OS is garbage compared to others. Invest more on software or just go Android One route.
Even so, Apple was brave enough to implement the idea while LG wasn't so sure about the design until Apple popularise it. Execution matters.
AnonD-166545, 06 May 2018Why in the world would you want to take credit for a stupid design?yeah stupid design but everybody is doing it, heck android P even supports the notch, samsung even filed a patent with a notch. that was the same with the non-removable battery, it was a stupid move but everybody followed it, before plastic body is the best but eventually they all used metal/glass body, removal of the headphone jack is stupid but even google pixel removed their headphone jack...
so can we just get over the stupid notch because its there to stay until they find a way to hide the sensors in front to get the real bezeless display
at least apple had an "excuse" they put the face id sensors there, thats why they needed the notch, what did LG put in there, basic sensors?
AnonD-166545, 06 May 2018Why in the world would you want to take credit for a stupid design? You may misunderstand the meaning.
Maybe what they say means they are not the notch copycat, but others are....
AnonD-166545, 06 May 2018Why in the world would you want to take credit for a stupid design?Lolz, yeah. This news is something that LG should keep to themselves, not take pride in.
