Mobilemaster, 04 Sep 2011Guys, it's pointless to blame the most popular OS in the world because you are jealous!! Andro... moreso why are you nokia haters so worried when nokia comes out with new smart phones? strange..
symbian is really great and there's more to follow until 2016 and i trully hope that nokia is going to change it's mind about killing this os! :) More oses more concurent everybody will be!
[deleted post]LOL!!! N9 beat SGS2?..hahaha, N9 support USBonthego? have radio?have external card slot? 1450mAh battery on N9 better than 1650mAh on SGS2?? Meego OS have/support thousands of additional applications to download like AndroidMarket for Android OS?? N9 super customise-able like SGS2??
if the answer is 'NO'..then stop sayin N9 is better than SGS2.u just can say N9 maybe have better camera and some new craps..but since it come with Meego or Symbians which can't even beat iOS..dont dream to compare with Android high-end phone.
u just make it sounds hilarious and 'sensational'..u will be very happy on the 1st day u have the phone in your hand..but after few weeks..u will start thinking how much u can get if u sell/trade-in ur N9..in the fly to get another better phone..dont deny this, coz ive experienced this situation so many times when im with my previous phones.. Nokia N900, Nokia N8, Htc Sensation, Htc Evo 3D, LG Optimus, iPhone4, Xperia Arc..
If anyone who want my personal feedback about phones ive mentioned, simpy email me at
invisibledance @ gmail . com
by the time this phone comes out, it will be already outdated. because 2012 is the year of QUAD-CORE.
funny facts about typical android fan boys. urgh! they are so boring!
1.ALWAYS HIGHER IS BETTER. Non-outdated phone must have highest processor. if it is below even one unit (like if 1.5 is highest in the market, then 1.4 is weak and that lags) the phone is inferior and cannot be called a high end smartphone.
hello samdroid/whatever fandroids , Xiaomi Phone has 1.5GHz dual-core Android smartphone, costs $310 USD unlocked. WAIT WHAT????????? My SG s2 is oudated??? throw it away. Xiomi is the best. funny thing is even android dual core phones lag. like unstablized Moto atrix etc.
and the phone must do 1080p video recording, if not, it is a piece of junk/shit. in reality qualities of them are like crap. it can't compete with cal zeiss lens cameras even if you argue with that i am not correct.
2. THAT'S OUTDATED AND OH THAT TOO!!. ZOMBIES???
so the phone might have 1080p recording or whatever, but nokia is the best when in picture qualities eg;carl zeiss N8 xenon flash.( oh and it has 12mp camera . Android/ samsung is outdated then!!)
N900 had everything that you do have now in androids. Notification bar, widgets with multiple homescreens. kinetic scrolling, nice intuitive interface, and so it goes on. see how android copied them. the browser, integrated third party softwares, GUI accelrated games and apps and etc. funny thing is android is still not matured OS. N900 can do much better than android and symbian can do more. when were androidees capable to install apps on SD card?? quite a common feature that does exist in symbian phones decade ago..!!.. multitask?? worse than iOS. much better in meego and symbian. just few examples they are.
seriously why do they come here and troll like a dead fish.i have never seen nokia fan goes to samsung thread and troll hard like this. and who cares to go?
5. TOO LITTLE TOO LATE/ 2 YEARS LATE. OMG that's one boring statement.
that's one statment that use to attack meego. or symbian Belle.
Sure Buddy, 05 Sep 2011USB OTG is again a feature that most people don't care about. Again DNLA is shown to be superi... more"
OGG Vorbis is an audio that experience audio loss where as FLAC does not. Galaxy S II supports FLAC as do the N9 so OGG Vorbis is quite useless. Nice try by the way LOL, thats like trying to say the N9 supports USB 1.0 speeds ;)"
it aint useless buddies like me.
"Sorry but N9 doesn't support dual-band wifi. Its not capable with the TI OMAP chipset the N9 runs, therefor you're just spouting fanboy dreams, next you'll tell me the N9-01 will run at 1920x1080 P resolution it will give you a BJ while you surf the web."
User manual in the N9 says “This phone supports the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n WLAN protocols. You can create an 802.11n connection using either the 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency band.”
"It is the world's first full touch screen your point?"
it is something new. isn't it? you said N9 is nothing new.
"Support for up to 6 fingers? Galaxy S II is capable of recognizing more than 6 finger input."
not upto. btw do you use 6 fingers to type? i bet you can do it.
So Linux is actually an authority now? When did linux which owns less than 5% of the PC marketshare became something cool? OH right, because Nokia uses MeegO which is a linux based OS so in correlation Linux is awesome right? "
Linux isn't only pc OS. do you realized that? android is linux. and we are talking about both linux powered device. you say meego is not something new. but linux denied it.
"I'm too lazy to own you on the rest of your comment but your try was noted and you are commended for your efforts. "
yees you are lazy, your answers proved it. btw you couldn't answer most of the points. what a pity to be androidish and come here and troll!

Guess what N9 has both DLNA and bluetooth 4.

So now its a superior device because of root access? You didn't need to ROOT to gain full access to the N900, look at N900 sales, nuff said. Look at iPhone Sales, nuff said. Root Access does not equal superior device.

Could be vaporware, but if it's real comparisons of real-world results would be interesting instead of synthetic benchmarks. I'm interested in the new Broadcommm GPU that's used in these phones.
adkane, 04 Sep 2011chill dude y so serious
'So is this going to be your fanboy comments from now on? NOKIA IS ... more-Nokia ( Symbian ) = phone for kids..
-iPhone4 ( osX ) = for silly girl next door or gay.u pay more money only for it build quality, thats all.
-WinOS = intel inside stupid outside.
-Android = superOS..unlimited customise-able.but till the end..u will realize..arghh..all phones are just the same.
Sure Buddy, 04 Sep 2011LOL Again, you like to post these opinions of yours and see them as facts without any proof or... morespecial facts about N9. It beats SG s2, OS wise. why these long points. because you said N9 is nothing new. but it is new, even the Linux foundation admits it, then how can you deny it??
1.N9 OS uses debian apt package management. You can even install .deb files via the web browser. true Linux ftw.
2.Web browser supports multitouch of up to 6 fingers at once. (maybe more?)
3.N9 camera sensor is a unique 13:9 ratio sensor. This allows for 8MP 4:3 ratio and 7MP 16:9 or 3:2 ratio photos. What is interesting about all this is that unlike most other mobile phones is that it actually contains more information horizontally than shooting at 4:3 ratio. So you do not have to sacrifice a lot of the image like the other phones when shooting at wider ratio. You can read other interesting facts about the N9 camera from the link below:
4.N9 also has the fastest camera of all mobile phones. (Even against most digital cameras!) WAIT WHAT? IT BEATS DUAL CORE SG s2 CAMERA???????????????????????????????????????
5.Photo sharing is pluggable (meaning it supports plug-ins) just like the N900 as it is made by the same team. So we should be able to get many different services plugged into the image sharing. (such as twitter, imgur, yfrog etc)
6.Another tidbit on the camera side of the N9. Camera architecture on the N9 is OPEN. Meaning that 3rd party camera apps and RAW access is possible later on.
7.Well, no idea how I missed this. Jukka Eklund is a product manager at Nokia and a member at TMO (Kozzi) has found some interesting IRC chat that went on with him involved. It seems USB OTG feature just needs to be enabled in software as the hardware is already there. (Like the N900) Update: N9 kernel seems to mention USB OTG as well.
8.Ogg Vorbis audio codec support isn’t mentioned in any of the official Nokia N9 spec page such as this. But it is supported according to the official N9 developer site as confirmed by Quim.
9.You do not need to flash a hacked kernel or jailbreak the N9 to gain superuser/root access. It’s as simple as just enabling the developer mode from the Security settings menu and voila, you now have root access to the xterminal, file system etc. Can’t be much simpler really.
10.Another tidbit. DLNA stack is there on the device by default, but not in use. Nokia didn’t have time to test everything so they have decided to leave the settings menu out. But they may bring this back into the UI via the upcoming updates or 3rd party app can be made to enable this support even from day 1 it seems!
11.An oldie but a goldie. User manual in the N9 says “This phone supports the 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, and 802.11n WLAN protocols. You can create an 802.11n connection using either the 2.4 or 5 GHz frequency band.” I can only assume this means it supports simultaneous dual-band as well. But even if not, it’s good to see that it supports the 5GHz frequency.
12.It has got Bluetooth 4. http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1058053&postcount=126 SG s2 ? No!
see more from http://shootspeak.com/2011/06/24/nokia-n9-extra-facts-tidbits-updates/
13.N9 has the world's first full touchscreen OS. no front bttons unlike sg2
14. More open than Android, the source code repositories can be read by anyone, and anyone can contribute at least patches. Any device manufacturer can take the source code any time and try to slap MeeGo onto its device.
15. Has a lot of optimizations for both ARM and x86 (Intel & Nokia cooperation), so it is relatively easy to deploy it on both hardware architecture. (Important for manufacturers.)
16.It uses a more standard Linux kernel than Android so it can follow the progress of the Linux kernel much more closely than Android (continuously better device support…etc).
17. It is a real, full-blown Linux system. The user interface – while nicely optimized for touch - is based on standard X-Windows technology, so EVERY current Linux software can run on it without major porting work (e.g. Firefox, Open/LibreOffice, Thunderbird). Tablet optimized and non-tablet-optimized software can run next to each other. Of course you need a keyboard and mouse for the non-tablet apps.
18.Imagine the Motorola Atrix: Due to the previous point, you wouldn’t need a separate Webtop environment for desktop applications, one, sophisticated shell can handle all applications concurrently. (in the case of the Atrix, the currently shipping Webtop environment is dumbed-down, static, non-extendable Linux desktop which integrates poorly with the concurrently running Android apps)
19. Among other technologies, it can run full-blown Java apps as well, not only Flash, like Android. This could be a strong differentiation in an enterprise environment.
20.It is absolutely imaginable to run Android apps in the MeeGo environment if the developers decide to support it (Dalvik is just another VM like the Java VM and dual/quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 with 1GB RAM can run as many VMs as you want). This is going to happen on the BlackBerry Playbook, there is no reason for not implementing it in MeeGo.
What’s so Different About MeeGo? (source LINUX.com)http://www.linux.com/news/featured-blogs/158-jim-zemlin/286723-bringing-the-magic-to-linux-with-meego- :) (remember this; creators of meego and android are speaking now! they pionted out some specialities about meego.
21. MeeGo was built for powerful next generation devices from the ground up; instead of a cell phone system trying to work in netbooks or a desktop system trying to work on phones, MeeGo has powerful computing in its DNA and will take advantage of new hardware form factors the industry hasn’t even dreamed up.
22.It’s truly open, meaning it’s aligned with upstream components (like the Linux kernel, X.org, D-BUS, tracker, GStreamer, Pulseaudio and more) and takes full advantage of the open model. This reduces fragmentation and complexity for ecosystem partners and will make Linux as a whole stronger.
23. Qt and application portability. Developers can target multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Symbian, etc) and devices with a consistent application API and have them run across a broad range of devices. Consumers will want to access the same apps on various devices. Qt and MeeGo make that possible. Because it already reaches so many platforms, Qt is a safe bet for developers. Because it is already well used, it will make it easy to bring many apps from Windows and the Mac over to Linux.
24. Cross-device support. Closed platforms (like Apple’s iPad) drive up costs for consumers and limit hardware choice. MeeGo is multi-architecture and can power a broad range of devices from your TV to your car to your pocketable computer to your phone. Consumers can keep their apps and use different devices from different producers.
I WILL REPOST THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN IF YOU DON"T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT IT FOR ALL POINTS.
The Boy with Red Hat, 05 Sep 2011Duh! I have plenty of Samsung gadgets and electronics and they are GREAT!!!.
Samsung phones... moreThe only problem is that Sony doesn't even build their TV sets anymore. They outsource to other companies to make most of their TV lines. Their non Bravia series are made by cheap chinese third parties such as sceptre and their Bravia lines are actually manufactured by either LG or Samsung now.
Lets be honest here Nokia noobs, did Nokia make a good mobile phone back in 2005-2006? Yes they did. Do they still make good phones now? No, this is irrefutable fact, proven by lack of sales, lack of demand by retailers, customers, and carriers. In most of Europe, most carriers give away their Nokia devices yet they never sell out but Galaxy S II and Iphones do sell out. Nokia MAY or MAY NOT recover, however with the way things are going now Nokia would be incredibly lucky to recover at all.
I hate symbian Nokia , C7
It Cost Me a lot , not better than andriod & ios
Anonymous, 05 Sep 2011Oh well, my Nokia couldn't withstand a coffee spilling over it, much less a flood.Depends on the Nokia you spilled it on , some Nokia's are very resilient, like my N8 or the 5800XM , and some are eye candy and should be treated as such ...
I need to argue, 05 Sep 2011wow my friend had this and that. Good argument how can you prove that? My friend had a space s... moreDuh! I have plenty of Samsung gadgets and electronics and they are GREAT!!!.
Samsung phones are really good...I like Nokia but the technology inside Samsung phones is amazing, I don't like the exterior but the Screen and the inner stuff rocks...
You can speak that of all Samsung electronics, I had more problems with Sony TV's than Samsungs ones.
