Working in a phone dealership I get asked atleast 100 times a day when is the iphone5 comming out and to be honest I am just as anxious to know anything about it!...Its very clever of apple to build up so much hype before releasing any information...

Apple is not a scam and not conning folk...Apple build premium products and polish their software and make it easy to use..A uber geek would not enjoy an iphone but to so many folk its simple operation and luxurious feel make it sell very well..In UK i get Granada in cheshire and all the prrsenters have iphones and ipads and they are all over 40 like Lucy Meacock and Fred Talbot all use apple for its ease of use.All the BBC click team here which is their flagship tech programme all use iphones.
Besides apple fans the general public are buying these products because they can actually use them..Imagine giving them a Nokia N8 which i still like or a htc sensation they would not only struggle but end up crashing the device..
I am sort of still a Nokia fanboy and sort of like android but soon i will be an Apple owner.I actually still use my HTC touch pro for many reasons but get laughed but dont care i like it..I see Android falling over itself with so many different devices/versions and problems that it will fail .

dumbphone were intended for the people that dont really care with what inside the phone and most of the dumbphone have similiar OS.
smartphone is born for smarter people who want to know what inside their phone, what they can do with the feature, functionality, OS etc. and smartphone user really care with OSes different because every OS have it own plus and minus, so if 99,99% peoples dont care bout OS different or maybe they dont know what OS all about that mean most of the people are dumbphone user, no wonder iphone sell like hotcake.

Not sure what it offers or will offer that compares to an atrix, sgs2, evo, sensation, or any other high end android. But,regardless of its inferior performance, it will sell long as it has an apple logo on back and calls itself the next iphone. People are just that desperate to be the next douchebag with the new iphone.

While that's wider than the standard square-ish 1.33:1 (4x3) aspect ratio found on older TVs, PC monitors, and iPods, it's 15 percent narrower than the 1.78:1 (16x9) screen dimensions found on most HDTV and DVD programming.
The specs of the iPhone list a pixel count of 480x320. In and of itself, that doesn't prove anything: some displays utilize rectangular pixels, which allows them to deliver a true 16:9 picture. (Older Hitachi plasma panels, for example, have a 1,024x1,024 pixel count, but their rectangular shape delivers a wide-screen image, rather than a perfect square one might infer from the resolution). But examining the photos of the iPhone on Apple's site reveals a nearly perfect 1.5:1 aspect ratio on the device's 3.5-inch screen when it's viewed in landscape mode. (The images below were snagged from Apple's site, and they compare the iPhone to Apple TV, which offers a true wide-screen image of 1.78:1.)
The nonstandard screen shape means that wide-screen content will either need to be zoomed (cutting off the left and right sides) or letterboxed (black bars on the top and bottom) when viewed on the iPhone. Neither option will be as cramped as it is on current iPods, which cut off more when zoomed or have larger letterbox bars. But it might disappoint prospective iPhone owners to learn that the "true video iPod" offers a compromised wide-screen viewing experience.
The iPhone's aspect ratio is narrower than standard wide-screen.

I Don't care for your figures im just simply going off what any sensible person would do and letting you know, theres more to business than figures. Yes apple may well be getting away with conning people for now, but that's not a good long term strategy to running a business.

yes iphone is a very good phone no noubt! but it's too expensive! you know i'm living in germany and the iphone 4 still cost's more than the GS2! and that's not acceptable! if a android device would cost 700 euro it would have a gold covered body!
that's it why i have a android device and not an iphone!
