Tango., 10 May 2018I usually see you on XperiaBlog too, haha! Cheers ;)
I was vague and wrote a short stateme... moreNice of you and sorry but i don't know if I see you xperiablog. What's your name on it? :)
Well your right but they don't market it it enough because marketing means spreading word and when you don't spread enough, you don't get attention. Look at this link https://sumahoinfo.com/post-23131
Also, there are some people say that in their countries they don't see Sony in the market so it's about both placement and marketing.
Even in the you YouTube, every reviewer doesn't give Sony it's justice, then, there are some tech reviwers who don't review them so it looks Sony doesn't pay the reviewers because if they would have paid them they would recommend their products over the other and speak positive about it. The other brands pay them, that's why you won't see them talk about their mistakes, but, when, it comes to Sony they do.
Look Sony announced their Xperia XZ2 Premium. They even couldn't do a private press for global release side by side with the China's announcement. When you don't take those kind of measures, it effects, your sells because when any company makes a product, it's only 50% but the other 50% lies on marketing and how they spread the word on it. Sony needs to gain peoples trust specially when people don't know them and every reviewer is throwing tantrums on them and giving them a bad press. They need to enter the people's heart, then they will buy their products easily because their products are good and rival the others and every way.
Anonymous, 10 May 2018Well just like Apple, Huawei, LG, Nokia etc are compared with the S9. Not only Sony :pOf course, Samsung phones are always the most popular but not the exact best one.
Heck, even Samsung blames the S9 series for the early launch of the Note 9, which I predict will end up just like the S9 series.

Anonymous, 10 May 2018Flying colors = well done, high score, A+ IMO, XZ2's durability is awesome..!!
KamAbdi, 10 May 2018You mean the availability of the their phones ?? If you mean that, then yes, but, not for the ... moreI usually see you on XperiaBlog too, haha! Cheers ;)
I was vague and wrote a short statement... sorry, I meant something totally different. Let's see... for example: I'm from Argentina; not a big market for Sony Mobile and even more risky now since it's flooded with korean and other multiple chinese brands...
Moreover in their official webpage or at their stores you may find the XZ1 (skipped the XZ1c) and then backjump to the X Performance or a huge gap to the L series... 1. Another M4Aqua or M5 standing there lonely on a shelve full of dust, lol (sarchasm... but still being offered in a bundle with a pair of zx660 headphones)
If you want to acquire a wider gamut or models from their recent portfolio you have to go to retailers, shops, eBay/Amazon/MercadoLibre through internet, import them (plus taxes and the american dollar currency here is going to heaven thanks to an anual inflation of 23%) or fall into the grey market...
The thing is... globally the XZ Premium is less than £600 or US$550, right? - Maybe the XZ1 is on par within that pricetag... well; here Sony still sells the XZ1 (August 2017) at US$1000, XZ Premium also that headache; and despite the economical sh*t-storm I don't have a clue as to why they do this and... oh my, the XZ2 wasn't even demoed by them or announced here yet! - On this side of the pond they prioritize the PlayStation segment, as well as the audio, cameras and TV department... but the mobile branch is as near as forgotten...
My point is... which exec is responsible? It's different in each region; each department administered differently and the headquarters at Tokyo or Lund doesn't give a da#n...
Is it the same in Brazil, Mexico, USA, Japan, England, India, Poland, France, South Africa, etc.? You always see different bundles for example attached to their flagships or midrangers; maybe it's not profitable for them or globally thanks to the profits by their Con, Camera and PlayStation division can't afford it if already spend a big budget on R&D and are tearing apart what once were a great software department... it's the same with their tech service centers (which is great here, honestly) or after-sales support... (like they did responsibly with VAIO) in some other countries is heavily criticised with plenty of bad reviews -
You don't see here a miserable campaign on the news, any newspapers, highways, tube, ads on the Internet, radio or TV regarding to promoting their phones and many people seem shocked for good when they do realise that Sony is a manufacturer of them... and a bloody great one - Since the Ericsson split here it's just like a "Meh" policy and with the 4 main carriers after the Z series and the introduction of the (*cof* uninspiring, ugly design *cof*) X series you don't get much from them except you get an unlocked phone elsewhere...
Still... they try to appeal to the... elitist, select, few, brand-loyal or fanboyism audience? With almost a non-existant market share and absurd prices... which some of us (me) pay
Sigh -
Anonymous, 10 May 2018Flying colors !?!? Flying colors = well done, high score, A+
Flying colors !?!?
Sony means quality hardware at your hand.
Period. Deal with that.
Quality.
Anonymous, 10 May 2018Well just like Apple, Huawei, LG, Nokia etc are compared with the S9. Not only Sony :pIf you do your Research the original Nokia can only be compared to SONY Quality builds; since Nokia originally only built product that lasted. One reason why they were Not available in US back in day.
Plus, Those other brands like H, L & S are massed produced for consumer to keep upgrading every year and also poor quality builds ! Hehehe

Sony has always been durable product... but thus video just shows how they have improved even more there cell Quality builds. Hahaha
There will be no OLED XPERIA this year.
Current devices ( XZ2 trinity) use 10-bit HDR RGB screen ( WRGB on the Premium) and oled makers ( Sammy and LG) for now work with 8-bit HDR Pentile.
Which it is not what Sony wants. They want same screen used on Bravia A1E.
Maybe at CES or MWC the Xperia with 5G / SD855 / Motion Eye Dual 2.0 brings oled.
All I know is one device in September ( might be XZ3) will have in-screen FPS from Japan Display.

And the Z5 Premium was actually more popular than it seemed at first.
The XZ Premium is also a well-known device from them that people are still using it to compare against the S9+.
Sony never makes the best smartphones, but they make ones that will be remembered the most.
