Anonymous, 10 May 2018Sorry, Motorola already filled a patent on that.Dude, Motorola's version is for plastic. This one is real glass.
Besides, those people who discovered the glass are Japanese people, and when that type of glass becomes approved for commercial use worldwide, Sony can buy them from those who will manufacture them.
Basically Sony can also file a patent for this but they're not greedy, unlike Samsung and Apple, so others have a lot of access to the use of it.
[deleted post]The popularity is, but not the quality. It was never dead.
And being dead means no longer making products. Apparently the XZ2 has a better camera than the S9+, let alone the XZ2 Premium, which will put true rivalry to the P20 Pro. For the meantime, the Note 9 will probably come with a cute 1/2.5" sensor again.
KamAbdi, 10 May 2018They don't do that marketing because no one is going to buy you if you don't market because no... moreI believe it's a region dependant department problem
These are always a bit strange to me - many of the tests, such as burning the phone with a lighter, are something that very rarely happens in real life. Dropping the phone, on the other hand, is a much more common thing. They should test that more.
I always love sonny's products..
Sony's marketing strategy is very pleasing it's advertisment is one of the best just look at it's website and you'll see, so why Sony fail? Because People nowadays are obviously brainless, who the hell will buy an Oppo just because it's says "Selfie Expert" for sure those people don't even know where Oppo came from.

Geric.770, 10 May 2018I like Sony because of their successful PlayStations. I'm using PS3. I like to see the Xperia ... more Cool and I love Sony so much. I have a lot of their products and they good. I wish them to come up always the places where others couldn't reach. I think Sony will do something with the gaming with the 5G so let's wait and see.
Now there are a lot of rumours that they will do OLED EL which is from the subsidiary JDI with the 4K phone and rumoured for other things as well so let us see what they bring :)
They should control their marketing and increase the availability from the launch date and ask a decent price too .
I hope they can overcome very soon.
They are as trustworthy as Apple and Samsung.

Shanti Dope, 10 May 2018No surprise Sony means quality I hope they'd be the first one to use self-healing glass ... moreEven if Sony is the most trusted brand in terms of durability, Xperias are still not a hit in the market. Look at XZ Premium. Yes it has 4k display (Overkill!). But the only problem is that the ergonomics are still not solved. Now the XZ2 solve those problems a bit, it still did not hit much of the consumers.
Sony makes the best phones. Xperia FTW.

No surprise
Sony means quality
I hope they'd be the first one to use self-healing glass in order to be the pioneer of "technically indestructible smartphone glass," knowing that that technology was basically discovered from their homeland, Japan.
