A bit steep no?Especialy for a phone that is not exactely getting as much suport as it should
The Boy with Red Hat, 07 Sep 2011That's (from my point of view) will be the lifesaver for N9 and MeeGO, I don't know how well r... moremeego can run android via alien Dalvik runtime. it is same thing that used for android phones to run android apps. that's why android sucks. it is a java virtual machine. see the first paragraph of the wikipedia( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system) ) says Android runs on Alien dalvik machine. and so there will be no big difference on a meego phone or android phone by performance. but the problem will be android application runner is not a simple application that can be installed by users. it is bulit in to the core of the meego OS. so if the carriers or Nokia agree to do that, then we will have lucky to install android apps on meego, if not it can't. In this case if you are android apps lover you better to buy a android phone.
The Boy with Red Hat, 07 Sep 2011Ok if MeeGo has fully support why others don't joined already at Meego project?
MeeGO is no... moremeego had more public support than android did at their first born. why didn't there were so many mnfc to join android project when android was there in 2005??? see. it takes time to make decisions for mnfcs. who knows? may be tmrw samsung will take meego as rumoured!
i am sorry for you. Acer and asus has meego devices. Acer Aspire 5749-2334G50Mikk 39,6 cm (15,6 Zoll) Notebook (Intel Core i3 2310M, 2,1GHz, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, Intel HD 3000, DVD, Meego)
Asus Eee PC-X101
you can see it is still on the top chart. Why is that??
i don't know why it is no big deal to you when super game developers support a dead os(in your opinion)??
rebel, 07 Sep 2011for 550euro you can get better device with more valued hardware and better apps supportToo bad with all that extra HW and millions of garbage apps, the only thing you'll get is an extra requirement to charge your battery every 2 hours.
Finanally a phone that doesnt need a technic head to use.
so smooth and design astonishing beautiful
Very good nokia
Anonymous, 07 Sep 2011Seems that all application an android store will be executable on Nokia N9 by myriad alien dal... moreThat's (from my point of view) will be the lifesaver for N9 and MeeGO, I don't know how well run the apps, but if the apps runs good with much glitches or lags definitely I will get one of these as soon is in sale here in Mexico.
The Boy with Red Hat, 07 Sep 2011In fact I'm not agaist MeeGO I lready use an Nokia N9 and is cool!
But MeeGO needs more tha... moreSeems that all application an android store will be executable on Nokia N9 by myriad alien dalvik.
pore suport for sure. Droid is good in any aprect but battery life is terrible. Nokia need to provide good battery life and more or less normal supprort and it will be bestseller
In fact I'm not agaist MeeGO I lready use an Nokia N9 and is cool!
But MeeGO needs more than just good wishes, is way far from being a full ecosystems, need more support, not just users in a "crusade" for meego. Is funny but NONE of those companies your mention has a power to develop MeeGO fully.
Even Acer or ASUS don't have ANY MEEGO DEVICE, and they prefer use WP7 and/or Android....So if they are involved, why they don't use MeeGO instead...???
The others don't worth the mention since some are just Linux distros, BMW is with Android in ther inboard systems and the others are just game developers...not big deal.
You need convince ALL MAJOR DEVELOPERS. Just like Google did.
But be real, Meego isn't Android, and Meego don't have the "back" of a powerful firm, and this is dangerous, can suffer the same fate of Symbian. Since MeeGO isn Apple, Google, Microsoft or even Blackberry.
In fact, Meego don't have money to get stand up and convince major Manufacturers to adopt it.
Samsung have some projects, but they have BADA. So, for them is just a nice option. but just that.!
for 550euro you can get better device with more valued hardware and better apps support
Decent, 07 Sep 2011bullshit. meego had developers support from big companies. straight from Linuxfoundation.com ... moreOk if MeeGo has fully support why others don't joined already at Meego project?
MeeGO is not new hast some years in development but there is not 100% interes on make MeeGO OS a secnd option.
In fact only NOKIA look for MeeGO, there is a lot of promisses around BUT in the real world there is no more major manufacturers adopting MeeGO.
And in fact open source project is not good at all, Meego can suffer the same fate of Linux (and all distros) to convert in just a looong 3rd. OS around that not too many people adopt.
The Boy with Red Hat, 07 Sep 2011Is different Nokia support and MeeGO support.
Nokia can support N9 entire lifetime.
BUT ... morebullshit. meego had developers support from big companies. straight from Linuxfoundation.com ..

Intel didn't give up on meego. it was a rumor. Intel answers to your lie. http://mynokiablog.com/2011/09/02/intel-backing-away-from-meego-intel-says-theyre-still-committed/ "We remain committed to MeeGo and open source, and will continue to work with the community to help develop and meet the needs of customers and end users”
it is important tom know that N9 has maemo community support as listed above.
I'm from Romania and I can tell you for sure that the online store from Romania indicated in this article is not a legal one.. so is not a good example
[deleted post]Is different Nokia support and MeeGO support.
Nokia can support N9 entire lifetime.
BUT MeeGO don't have developers, so, there is no company that make any software for that OS. Intel give up MeeGO development, so now MeeGO es headless.
Not confuse Nokia support with MeeGO support.

bilt, 07 Sep 2011please send some picture to gsmarena, for this device :) N8-01i can loose my job if i post pictures or any other information. orange,vodafone,cosmote,tim,t-mobile and all mobile producers are monitoring every day this site because here is the biggest leak of information about prototypes. one of our coleague was fired from marketing division because he post pictures of many prototypes in test. don't be stupid and think: mobile networks operators receive all the prototypes from al producers long time before you will see it here announced because we have to test terminal's compatibility with our network sevices and provide feedback for final form of software. so you ignorant, remember my words: nokia 8-01, symbian belle, 16 mp,hd video, 4 inch amoled display as n9. we have 10 pieces of n9 in test, we are already tired of it
[deleted post]may be im a looser, now you tell me what are the more important new things N9 has?
Aaron, 07 Sep 2011People need to educate themselves that the Nokia N9 is not a pure Meego phone. It doesn't have... moreN9 is a Qt enabled device. As far as i know there are more than 300,000 Qt developers worldwide. http://www.telecoms.com/16735/nokia-brings-qt-to-symbian-maemo/
so any one who says N9 has no future, shut the hell up. Qt is a cross platform tool that you can write the code once and deploy to multiple platforms such a maemo, meego, android, symbian, linux distros, windows, mac, and now next billion of s40 series of Nokia.
N9 has meego harmattan, which is not at all meego.it is a combination of Maemo6 and some from meego but it has meego compatibility.
meego is linux, so even if Intel did reduce contributions to MeeGo, MeeGo is not Intel or Intel’s. It’s a open source project under the Linux Foundation. meego will as long as linux live, because it has a wide community support. Let me clarify you something too. Intel is not backing away meego. it was a lie that rumoured around Internet. GSmarena brought the news in some way that could confuse you. but to make it more clear just prefer this link. http://mynokiablog.com/2011/09/02/intel-backing-away-from-meego-intel-says-theyre-still-committed/
Intel response to rumor. " “”We remain committed to MeeGo and open source, and will continue to work with the community to help develop and meet the needs of customers and end users”
Why i buy N9?
1. First of all it is full linux OS.
2. It is Qt enabled. The community is currently working on useful Qt apps for meego harmattan.Thousands of Qt apps are already made for symbian, means later devs can deploy to meego with a little modification. Moreover N9 comes with loads of useful apps out of the box.
3. It runs meego harmattan which is unique in the terms of ui and ux.
4. Easy to use. Just a swipe away. Fast and smooth (Qt Qml powered which a light weight language in Qt)
5. Design of the device is unique and beautiful that everyone agrees.
6. For style and fashion/ show off./ To be special in the society.
8. For browsing.
9. To listen to music.
10. never to sell it later, just own it forever. coz it is a beauty. :)
there are some other reasons too,
