Galaxy S8 owner here and although I love my device can honestly say I have never activated the fingerprint scanner on the back, just wouldn't do it as it's too awkward and fiddly to do it every time without seeing what you are doing. I use the eye and face detection which works well most times (darkness and high level light are the exceptions). Would really welcome and am expecting this under display reader on the S10.

There have been tens of articles about Samsung introducing an in-display fingerprint scanner. Yet, till this day we see no real results.

This is pretty awesome considering less than 6 years ago fingerprint scanners were exclusive and new. Now it's considered old tried tech. If they can somehow make this as responsive and accurate as conventional fingerprint scanners, I'm sold.

Geric.770, 14 May 2018Samsung already finished this feature, but they want to perfected it for more seemless and sec... morethey are still working on it, they didn't finish 25% of it... coz if they finished more than 50% they will use it with the new phones, like some other features from before. and they will promise to fix the bugs with updates, like always.
Samsung never invented something, they are waiting others to invent so they can copy the tech and claims they invented it better.

One group that wants bezeless screen.
The other group want fingerprint scanning.
The last die hard group want fingerprint scanning ON the front.
Android makers cannot please all 3 for now.. So they settle with the first 2 groups.. and put fingerprint behind.
If they manage to bring the fingerprint scanning to the front.. It will satisfy the last group. = more buyers.. = more $$$!

Absolutely needless to say that hopefully the S10 will definitely include it and excellently as well! But hopefully too, that even the Note 9 will include it. Because if the Note 9 won't include the under display fingerprint reader again (S8/duo, Note 8, S9/duo), they absolutely need a main selling key point/feature. So what it could be if not the under display fingerprint reader???
