I have an OP3 and I love it. I'd like to have built in Qi and it would be a reason to consider buying the OP6T. But no one @ OP seems to have a car with integrated Qi charger and has ever experienced this great laziness of not having to fiddle around with charger cables. For the time I'll be forced to use the aftermarket Wireless Charger Case and not use the Cable at all. A shame because Dash is great. Or maybe the time has come to switch to another company that's more open about including features into their phones.
*Wireless charging haha
I don't care about stereo charging!
Just add powerful stereo speakers already!
no Qi, no Buy
peachy, 22 May 2018I get that, but, if you don't have it with you, it is useless. I use wireless whilst I sleep. ... morethen why not charge it before one hour then you don't need to charge it over night which is more safe and your battery won't die on you over time .. that's how i do it with my Oneplus 5 plus the amazing battery life i have with this device i only charge it once one hour before sleep unplug it before sleep the next morning my phone will last me the whole day when i reach home it will be at 30-15%
DvlRlz, 22 May 2018This a point by point answer to the many reasons given by One Plus for not having wireless cha... moreIn my opinion, a small but very important correction
Nokia Lumia 920 have Qi wireless charging from 2012.
So , after all, the technology has not been around since 2015. Unfortunately few people know this.
It's like the notch. Everyone thinks the notch first appeared on iPhone X (2017, September), but it first appeared on the Sharp Aquos S2 and the Essential PH-1 on 2017, August
Anonymous, 22 May 2018Better buy Mi 8Same here, I'm thinking about getting it exported from China when it releases.
I said it once and I'll say it again (YES, even AFTER the iPhone got it!): wireless charging is too slow to be mainstream yet. It's that simple.
Alien , 22 May 2018Flagships Wannabe : - NO SD card slot - NO IP68 or MIL - NO stereo speakers - NO wireless ... moreGood summary and I agree, OnePlus are IDIOTS for not thinking wireless charging is the future, those of us who have QI capable phones don't even think about charging anymore, we just put it on our table/desk/night stand and it charges away - so simple - so futuristic. Sure it's a luxury but one that will be standard in every mid range phone in the near future, that it isn't included in OneMinus 6 only indicates further that this isn't a flagship phone, when many mid range offerings have superior specs...
Flagships Wannabe :
- NO SD card slot
- NO IP68 or MIL
- NO stereo speakers
- NO wireless charging
- NOtch interested
- USB 2.0 when there's 3.0 and 3.1 available
Yep, definitely a flagship wannabe and definitely NOT a flagship killer..
This a point by point answer to the many reasons given by One Plus for not having wireless charging at their OP6 launch event in India.
And why I think they are not giving it, YET
OP: It will make the phone thicker
AngryFan: Many slim phones like Samsung, LG and iPhone have the feature,it doesn't make them thicker. Is One Plus 6 comparatively slimmer than those phones.
OP: It may increase cost(as we never ever do that)
Angrier Fan: It's a technology that has been around since 2015, it can't be so costly. And this article also supports that
OP: Many customers don't want that
FrustratedFan: Nobody is forcing anybody to wireless charge their device. And thinking about what consumers want, Not all of us asked for a glass back phone, but OP went for that for whatever reason, glass is cheaper than metal and obviously easier for signal transmission. So they take consumers opinion when its suits them.
OP: You need an extra accessory-charging pad to use it
ReadyToPunchFan: And yes, we need a charging pad to use it, but that is none of OP's headache/business. Its optional and the choice is with the user. Empathetic OP, thinking about the difficulties faced by their users in procuring the charging pad, remember when OPO bought the USB C cable for Dash Charging, OPO owners were running around for type c cables to charge, as nobody had them then. That didn't prevent OPO from bringing the feature it to their phones. Did they forget their customers difficulties then, esp when that wasn't even a choice, it was the only option. And USB-C cables were so rare then.Such a dumb reason to not bring wireless charging. They would have spent months to create/think/manufacture that reason.
Intelligent Fan:
Logically the only reason they have not given wireless charging is to increase the price for 6T or 7 and justify with an additional feature. And then they will claim that their fans want it now.
The only advantage of qi charge is that the usb port doesn't wear as quickly and it's a more subtle way of charging with no cables in the way, just leaving it at the dock.
But there are many disadvantages
One of them being a slow charge
Another disadvantage is the time it takes charging, the battery heats up for a long period of time which is a nightmare for any battery.
Many people leave their devices on charge overnight which initiates trickle charge, which is not good for the battery also, better unplug it while it has 80%.
But hey, i could go on and on
Better buy Mi 8

Anonymous, 22 May 2018Still don't get why people want to use slow wireless charging when there is fast charge availa... moreReasons for wireless charging:
1) It is extremely cheap and easy to add.
2) Let people who want it, have it. It not affecting users who don't need it.
3) Dash charging all the time will reduce life of battery, sometimes slow is better.
4) Yes, it won't charge when you want to pick up and use the phone, but after using I can place it back and continue charging. If you want to continuously use it while charging, there is always the cable.
5) Reduces wear and tear of USB port. e.g: If you go to a meeting and return back to your desk, you will normally unplug and plug it back again. With wireless, you can just pick up and place it again. No moving parts.
Muhamashi18, 22 May 2018Calm down. As it stands right now, wireless charging is not a must have. Apple has excluded it... moreLet me guess, you either never owned a phone with wireless charging or have never used wireless charging. It is not about the speed/performance of charging or "This is a cool feature, therefore I must have it", it is the convenience. I go to work/sleep, place my phone on the pad and forget about it. When I need to, I just grab and go. I never have to consciously think about charging my phone. Think of this as something useful a phone is doing instead of simply lying on a table. This feature is never meant to compete with Dash charge. It is supposed to supplement it. Especially since Dash charging can degrade the battery quicker.
Apple example is bad. People will buy iPhones regardless of what features it has. By that analogy Apple sold millions of iPhones without headphone jack, so why didn't OnePlus remove it? See where this example can go?
Anonymous, 22 May 2018This type of glass doesn't break like ceramic and is good for signal strength, and why are peo... moreBecause there is more to lose (it is much easier to damage glass back than metal, comparing it to ceramic is just to feel good) than the gain (better signal reception).
If OnePlus wanted to, it could have use polycarbonate (plastic) backs. Very good at signal reception and much stronger than glass. But wait, the phone won't "look" premium. So much hassle for something that will mostly stay behind a case.
Wireless charging is very very useful when you are driving. Having to plug and unplug cables is very frustrating and dangerous while driving.
