Great news and it is also great that they are staying true to their founding ethos years ago. The people who bag on bout Chinese seriously make me shake my head. It's like my Australian business, just because I get boxes made in China does that make me Chinese or Apple. OMG it's laughable.
Nokia sirocco is beautifully designed. Big 5.5 screen in 140 body, all legendary toughness coupled with Euro styling. So looking forward to some new true classics that have some unique styling thinking outside the square. Kudos Nokia

Anonymous, 21 May 2018Nokia to Google! Never.. Nokia to Microsoft! It's OK.. According to my experience Nokia=Symbia... moreSeriously? It was Symbian that makes them falling.
Ok, it was not. It was their lame and arogancy.
But hey, Meego was good but no apps back then.
But i will agree. When they used WP, they should have used Meego as well rather than killing it. Even Intel didnt like when Nokia did it.
Blame Elop. I still cant forgive Elop for what he had done.
20 MILLION symbian phones sold and he said it is a burning platform? And oh boy, N9 was praised everywhere yet Elop stopped it already even before it reached the market.

FinnishInquisition, 21 May 2018No, you're the one that's wrong. You can read how it all works in the interview with Alberto M... moreActually, who cares? Chinese or Finnish? Or chinese potjomkin finnish company? It's HMD and NOT Nokia, doesn't matter, how many _EX_-Nokia employees it does have. Was Microsoft Nokia? Just some google laptop startup, using once famous Nokia name on their products.

bref, 21 May 2018Sorry, you're wrong. HMD won’t be doing Research & Development on their own, but with F... moreNo, you're the one that's wrong. You can read how it all works in the interview with Alberto Matrone (HMD VP for Eastern Europe).

"[Alberto Matrone] mentioned that HMD's designers and R&D personnel are working constantly on bringing new devices to life, and that there are many interesting things we will see in the future. He confirmed that HMD is designing new devices and developing new technologies. FIH is in charge of production of the devices, but also advises HMD on how to make production process simpler and doing testing of new technologies and devices."

http://nokiamob.net/2018/01/07/interview-with-alberto-matrone-vp-of-hmd-for-eastern-europe/

Essentially, HMD research, design and develop prototype devices they want to put into mass-production. They then consult with Foxconn on how to make their prototypes a mass-producible reality, and have Foxconn then test the devices to make sure they're up to the HMD requirements for durability, water proofing, thermals, etc.

So HMD do the R&D involved in design and technology implementation. Foxconn do the R&D involved in manufacturing.

Foxconn are genius. Literally. Previously some mobile brands (Alcatel, Phillips, Blackberry) became property of chinese brands. Not that successfully. Foxconn did the same but via fake company pretending to be Finnish. They release the same Chinese level phones like Alcatel but good PR making "nokia" phones sell like A-brands do.

HMD won’t be doing Research & Development on their own, but with FIH Mobile (Foxconn), an R&D powerhouse. HMD will design, develop, sell, promote and do the costumer support for Nokia-branded products.

FinnishInquisition, 21 May 2018I distinctly remember asking for "evidence" not "baseless claims from an anonymous account".He believes that Nokia are 4th in Europe Including Russia , and that Russia is a part of the European Union.

And says that the UK is not a part of the European Union.

All these Xiaomi supporters are just baseless and throw all their effort into supporting a cheap clone brand.

All his claims are baseless , He couldn't even provide a source as to why Nokia is Chinese other than his imaginary conspiracy theories.
