Anonymous, 24 May 2018I rather have notch than a bloody life expired foldable phones.I had a razr when it was popular and don't fancy flip phones but if this foldable phone looks good I'll consider it because it has to appeal & that's the most important thing.
If it looks good I can bet you'll change your mind lol.
Shanti Dope, 24 May 2018Up until now, I still can't imagine how are they gonna do it.
A foldable smartphone not only ... moreThere is no need for physical connectors when folded.
One can assume they will use the technology like smart magnetic connectors, i.e. how iPad /Surface connects to keyboard.
So the PCB / battery is housed only in one side, the other side is just screen, maybe a secondary battery. When unfolded, the smart magnetic connectors will charge and send info to the bigger screen.
Only problem is.. how many times can you flex it?...

Shanti Dope, 24 May 2018Up until now, I still can't imagine how are they gonna do it. A foldable smartphone not only ... morePhone mainboards are actually tiny - check out some ifixit teardowns. First generation 'foldable' screen phones will flex at 1 hinge only, and depending on the design may use flex cable to connect components in each half, or may not even require it (if just the flexible screen housed in the flap).

hman, 24 May 2018copycat where? if it wasnt for huawei you would still have shitty cameras on phones.
copycat... moreIn camera:
-Google introduced multi-frame noise reduction
-Samsung introduced variable aperture
-Apple introduced 4K@60fps (which was rather a CPU-related task)
-HTC brought "less-but-larger-pixels" camera sensors
-LG introduced wide angle lens
-Apple did the telephoto lens
-Sony does, well, MOST of what we have today (large 1/2" sensor, wide aperture, 4K HDR video recording, 960fps Super Slow Motion, Background Defocus or Portrait Mode, AR effect, Scene Recognition or AI Scene Detection, gyro-based EIS, and they're the supplier of 40% of the smartphones in the world today)
Huawei did. What?
Geric.770, 24 May 2018Remember that Samsung is falling on most countries! They lost because of Huawei and Xiaomi! Ye... moreI would hardly call Huawei a copycat company, Xiaomi is more so but they've done some pretty impressive stuff along with Huawei...anyone remember when Xiaomi was winning the spec race?

Geric.770, 24 May 2018Remember that Samsung is falling on most countries! They lost because of Huawei and Xiaomi! Ye... moreThey use price to pull customers.
They can afford the low price, because they no need to invest in finding new ideas.. just ripoff others ideas.
Such ways is never sustainable. They will reach a point where theres no more to copy, their products are clones to other clones, and prices of clones are rock bottom began to bite them.
And since they never create, only copy.. they will be forever one step behind.

copycat? samsung fanboy spotted. huawei is already top samartphone vendor in poland and other countries will follow.
Huawei has this prototype and is working on it for the last 3 years it was ready t9o be launched one year ago but they invested mor e in R&D to eliminate the suppport between the two screens... copycat you say
Foldable smartphone and 3D TV ......useless.
Up until now, I still can't imagine how are they gonna do it.
A foldable smartphone not only needs a foldable display (which is possible with the use of OLED screen). It also needs a foldable motherboard, foldable metal/glass (or whatever material they're going to use), foldable camera sensor, foldable battery, foldable speaker, etc.
Unless the concept is that the smartphone will just be folded in only one specific part of the phone where the hinge for folding the phone is found, well, I still can't think of how it's going to be done. The motherboard inside the phone is so big, there must be a connection between two separate parts (when the phone is folded, that is).
I imagine this is similar to the foldable "dumbphone" of the past, like the Samsung Clamshell phones but with modern day screen, hardware, etc.
Kudos for trying and thinking forward though.
Stop embracing the notch (which sees absolutely no future at all) and start doing something new that has never been done for a smartphone in the past.
This 8" phone will turn into 4" when folded. We're definitely going back to the days of super compact mobile phones.

Huawei has been taking giant tech leaps on their phones. If they keep this up, they'll overtake Samsung's place very soon. :D
The Samsung like company joins the party.
Let's see if they will be the first to release because Crapsung introduced this before but until now, it's still not yet done!
Vaio Agent, 24 May 2018foldable phone is most stupid phoneVaio Agent Please let them do their thing and call them stupid when it's actually a real product. You don't know how many people thought big screen phones were stupid when it first came out. Your comment just shows how ignorant you are. so please kindly stop before it shows the worst of you. It's good that this company is "trying" to become more innovative rather than just following the other companies footsteps. Now let's see what they can do being the "first" for once (if they would be first)
