The first thing I do after buying a new smartphone is root. I was never a fan of china replica brands, so I don't care. But now I can tell all those people trying to make me buy one they are the silly ones for wanting one.
By the way, they stopped the bootloader unlock because they don't want you to root and delete their spying software.
The chinese spying company doesn't want you to alter their software - it's that easy.
PS Sony offers FREE official bootloader unlock on their website ;)
BS. If they provided quality service people would not need to flash custom ROMs.
Techfan21, 25 May 2018Can't you just unlock the bootloader when u get the phone And continue to use stock OS That ... moretotally possible. your warranty is not void until you write "fastboot oem unlock THE_KEY" and confirm yes on the phone.
Can't you just unlock the bootloader when u get the phone
And continue to use stock OS
That was you still get Software updates and Warranty isn't broken
And you can root at a later date
Anonym, 25 May 2018No more Huawei for me then. Bye bye!Same here

Unlocking your bootloader has various risks. People should be aware of that. If they decide to do it, it should be their decision, as they bought the phone, and are willing to lose some benefits, like warranty. This means they - who bought the phone - should have the right to unlock their bootloader, knowing the risks of such endeavour. OEMs do not want that for two reasons: 1) They can push updates as they want and collect your data more freely; and 2) If your firmware / Android OS is out-of-date - because they stopped supporting the device, you are left without the possibility to update, and thus, you may buy a new phone from them. And this is just bad for consumer. Consumer wants choice and freedom, otherwise I would have bought an Apple product.
I understand people's complain. But I don't care. I've never unlocked any bootloader and never rooted my phone.
My Y7 Prime didn't even has lags and bugs for almost 8 months.
Except for Pixels, of course, it didn't really have much custom ROMs anyway (at least from Lineage) or did it?
What a garbage firmware from huawei

Anonymous, 25 May 2018It’s about time and whole Android OS will be locked down due to the new Google rules including... moreOEMs can lock the bootloader if they want, but they should not penalize others (by voiding their warranty) who unlock their bootloader unless it was shown that such caused damage to their device and that the user is aware of the risks involved. That could be a good middle ground, kind of.
jefire411, 25 May 2018heck huawei phones don't lag even after a year (personal experience)Yes, I'm aware of that because I am also using a Huawei phone (P10). And so far, zero lag and still good battery life after update to Oreo. Can't say the same thing about other OEMs.
