its a very good feature, love it on my s8 not have to turn on the screen having a small display that always shows battery todays date etc is hard to say no, and the battery drain is not a big deal OP are just amateurs who couldnt get it right, let the user decide if they want use it or not...
Anonymous, 29 May 2018Hahaha, even Samsung offers this feature and it drains battery just like it would on a OnePlus... moreOne plus would bring it back once apple releases the revolutionary always on display
....should have removed bloody notch instead!
I bet if they do not include the notch, smaller display panel.. they will save enuff power for that always on feature.
Xhxhyy, 28 May 2018So anyone still thinking AMOLED/OLED is more efficient than regular IPS-LCD at displaying colo... morePersonally hate OLED, just wears out too fast and often it already comes with a tinted screen
Hahaha, even Samsung offers this feature and it drains battery just like it would on a OnePlus, but unlike them they warn you about this and give you the choice
Now, put a 4k or more mah battery on the 6T please?
Here's a revolutionary idea for a change: make a bigger battery!
never settle. . huh! u just settled ..
I can almost guarantee it was more due to burn in concerns than battery. The phones software must constantly communicate with the display and move pixels around in a way that is invisible to the naked eye to prevent burn in on OLED panels. I'm sure it looks better as a company to cute battery concerns until a more reasonable fix is developed in a future update.
-DLS-, 28 May 2018Display memory most likely. That's kind of needed so the screen doesn't have to be refreshed c... moreYup, display memory, i remember when Nokia Lumia had that Glance Feature. Even on IPS display. That because they had a display memory. But Nokia Lumia 930 didnt have it even tho it featured OLED.
hahahaa bunch of amateurs...
That's nonsense. On an S7, on the very first version of AOD, the AOD uses about 1% of the battery in an hour. AOD was ported on many devices like Moto Z phones and Pixels and all... So no, they just don't know how to code it.
Too much battery drain is a poor excuse for taking away an option. More likely that they couldn't figure out an efficient way of programming it, so didn't want to send out half-baked sh*t. If it were merely battery concern, simply living it off by default and warning users when they're turning it on solves that.
So anyone still thinking AMOLED/OLED is more efficient than regular IPS-LCD at displaying colour ???
In reality, it's the contrary.
They already settle since one plus one..
Too much battery drain... Nothing special with this feature.
YoloBS, 28 May 2018As long as the phone have multi color notification light, AOD is just a gimmick.Yaa right!? Notification light can tell you about time, type of notifications, let you change songs without turning on the display, and did I forget to tell you that it can show exact time. Amazing!
AoD is useful nothing you cant live without but if you use it you will like if you dont use it you wont miss it and there are many apps available with AoD best Ive use is Always on Amoled beta
