LostInTheReality, 30 May 2018Soon having 6 cameras or even more will be the norm.Wonder, but may be some day. Imagine device with super-wide, normal(rgb+w/r+g+g+b+w), narrow(tele), thermo, 2.camera(one or each fov) for 3D,... thats about 6 cameras until nothing new comes like separated sensors for each color(9 then). Sure would want that kind of beast.
And some new kinds of cameras might still come.

Smartphone cameras are great, but nowhere near DSLR capabili... moreWhat I mean they get features similar to what pro cameras can do, like bokeh, zoom, different aperture, ISP, histogram, focus peaking, rear curtain sync, long shutter, hdr...
and some abilities they got on top - living image/spherical/bothie/3D/other modes, multiple(more than just hdr) image stacking from one/multiple sensors(mostly), big high res screen to see focus, color spectrum sensor, water resistance, thin and light body for higher mobility and to get angle not possible with thick camera, better focus with big aperture(because of small sensor), AI assisted functions(object recognition), instant macro, 3D stereo audio(some), some instant wider fov,....
Using that they get ahead of hw capabilities of small sensor, closer to those pro cameras in quality and beyond with some abilities and features.

even it take 3 - 4 years for apple to copy and improve it , then their lovely android quickly copy it back how its done because apple did it ....

Can they sell so much like Apple? I bet all these companies can start betting on 3D camera again.

Only when Apple started it, then it will be the new trend. Do you see 3D camera to be an in-thing after LG, Sony, etc etc implemented it? No! Look at the notch trend now. Even Google started embracing it!

how 3D implementation done is one thing and copying is a different thing..

The issue is that the Apple chips are more powerful than Android flagships, and besides that even the most popular/average Apple device (iPhone 6) is more powerful than an average Android device (1.5GHz Cortex A53, 2GB RAM, eMMC 5.0).
But stepping aside that, Apple's SDK is much more fleshed-out and easier to develop for than Android's loosely supported toolkit. And Apple is a long-distance ahead of Google when it comes to 3D/AR support software-wise.
So I expect OnePlus, Nokia, Xiaomi, LG (and much later Samsung) to go and copy Apple with 3-cameras for 3D implementations... yet they won't be very good, or as good as Apple due to a shortcoming in hardware AND software. The wildcard is Huawei, they might be the only one with a reasonable device with this feature.
