AnonD-611364, 31 May 2018Hmm, is this the Plan B they have been discussing about?Maybe this is their second plan.
Still curious about why most of these special phones are only released on China.
Let's hope they partner with Chandra Rathakrishnan and use the Operating System from the JooJoo tablet and Grid4.4 OS.
xD

Interesting. Let's wait and see. For me android is the best os for phones and windows is the best for computers. I like to customize my devices.

As i huge Huawei fan and current owner of mate 10 pro, If your OS would be like updates only once a year maybe twice, then please dont make It, it will fail anyway.
It have a notch and... very little chin maybe...
Great stride for a chinese hardware company to finally realize the importance of having an inhouse OS. Technically making and maintaining a linux based OS is not an expensive project for a huge company like Huawei.
Hope Huawei understands the marketing game, budget and patience involved here.
Samsung's Tizen
BlackBerry's BBOS
FireFox's FireFoxOS
MicroSoft's Mobile Windows...ETC
Many Companys build Custom OS but almost fail because lack of apps. So i think Kirin OS can't success
I'm guessing that this is mostly aimed at Chinese government/business people whom need information kept out of the grubby American government hands.
Or to replace android in China and further monitor the Chinese people into enslavement by the authoritarian regime.
......based on linux and will focus on speed.....
and not controlled by us gov spyware....
win-win-win.
Anonymous, 31 May 2018hope it gets regular updates for 5 years at least, just like iosLets see if this thing survives that long...
"And WeChat is on Huawei's global app store."
Unless this OS can run Android apps (native or emulated), that phrase does not make sense.
It's never about the OS but rather the (lack of) apps. Do they have the major software house on-board? If even Microsoft failed to do that, Samsung and LG still take a beating at it, what makes Huawei so confident they may succeed?
Anonymous, 31 May 2018hope it gets regular updates for 5 years at least, just like iosWell seeing as how they do do follow a lot of what Apple does, I would hope so
Honor Magic already had a proprietary Magic OS, with compatibility with Android apps. And that was the reason why it was never released out of China.
hope it gets regular updates for 5 years at least, just like ios
They are preparing just in case if they won't get android in future .. (like it happened to ZTE for short time)
never buy with kirin os
