Great now we need a cumbersome dongle to replace features that use to be in the device.

Will this work with the Pixel 2 and XL? Google had a similar adapter, made by Moshi, but it was always sold out and now it has mysteriously disappeared from the Google store. These combo headphone jack USB C dongles apparently never work, according to Amazon reviews. Most are offered by Chinese manufacturers. I've been looking for a good one. Maybe Sony got it right. Bleh. I miss my headphone jack. Bluetooth sucks. Bluetooth radio waves make my brain hurt.

For most the quality they get out of phone is enough. But not a lot of people like to carry around another box. I actually looked one of these but then i just didnt see a point to have just another box with me and i am not a audiophile and even FM Radio quality is good enough for me.
pl2rts, 31 May 2018Why would anyone want one another box with them if they already are forced to go wireless ?Because "that box" sounds 10x better and louder than the classic 3,5 mm output for headphones of any mobile phone and sounds 100x better than any 500 euro bluetooth headphones. The little matchbox has a clip and you can hang it at your neck or anywhere
I think I´m one of few who isn´t bothered by a phone without the headphone jack; I´ve started using airpods with my 6s Plus and I can´t put them down. For me, wireless headphones are so much more convenient than wired. Bruh my phone is a model that still has the headphone jack and I´ve not used it in months - but that´s just me.
I do realise it is stupid to have to pay £800+ for a phone then loads more on either wireless accessories or daft dongles just to listen to music whilst wanting to charge phone.
Maybe in a few years when the industry catches up and wireless earphones aren´t as expensive then this whole no headphone jack issue might not be as big a problem.
BringBackHeadphoneJa, 31 May 2018Stupidity at its best. Creating problem and then giving solution to grab more money from customers. It's the typical nature of capitalism.
It is based on people's argument that you can't listen to music and charge the phone at the same time. And Sony thinks if it responds to those arguments with a workaround, it will solve the problem and people will accept phones with no 3.5mm jack. But it's nonsense. Yes, they'r right in the latter, because people are primitive and they will still buy phones without 3.5mm jack, like they buy phones with non-removable battery.
But it's not a solution. NOTHING will ever be able to justify / validate the removal of 3.5mm jack and the use of non-removable battery.
Anonymous, 31 May 2018PDA = phone dongle administration? It's an actual term, 28 years old referring as "Personal Digital Assistant". It refers to the device's capability to manage a calendar, alarm, internet access. Etc. Just without a phone capability (the most modern thing that is mainstream AND considered a PDA is the iPod Touch Series. It answers all the requirements to be a PDA! (Plus the size restriction. It's a PALM SIZED device. So it cannot exceed 4.3inch in size)
For more info:
I bought a XZ premium for $400: headphone jack, big 4k screen, super nice chrome color and the best finger print sensor ever.
Why pay more for less.
Buwahaha, I always knew they would release this thats why they remove 3.5mm jackfor more $$$$$$$$$$$....
