Reportedly, Samsung is keeping the same Galaxy Note8 design for the Note9 to cut costs Comments

2mm shorter bezels for Note 9 would definitely make it look more like a phone rather than a remote! Don't understand why Samsung went for 18.5:9 for their Infinity Display, a normal 18:9 would have worked way better for them! But I still love my S7 the most!

New design as on gaming phones would be welcome. Non gaming phones are just too plain looking, like colors+edges = design. I know there are covers, but its just so plain.

I honestly don't see any improvements in phones coming in the next 5 or even 10 years. The S7 and especially the S8 check all the possible boxes.

Of course it will look similar to last years Note.
If they had planned a design change for this year, the S series would have gotten it first.
Although the Note series is partly helping Samsung keep sales compared to apple in the fall, it isn't a signature device, the S series is.
They have to set the design such a long time before release that if they heard about a design change of the iPhone, that they would think they needed to respond to, they would probably rather delay that year S series. But once the S series is released they really don't have time for any major design change of the Note series anyhow. They would respond by re-designing the next generation S series and announce it earlier. Not by delaying the Note series and change the design of that.

im fine with the same phone design for no more then 2 years, as long as:

A, the cost savings are passed on to the customer, so this handset should either stay the same or get ever so slightly cheaper.
B the second gen model has worthy upgraded internals and storage options.

Unfortunately I cant see samsung reducing the price of the note 9, more likely increase it by a small amount, i hope im wrong but £869 is far to much for any phone given their relatively short lives, i will stick with my note 8 until note 10 arrives

At least that 8GB ram/512GB on board storage hypes the enthusiasts and Note lovers out there! :D
