Anonymous, 10 Jun 2018Yeah. A dark chapter, like physical keyboards, removable batteries, storage, headphone jacks..... moreThe notch is not a good solution. It only makes sense if the space to the left and right are always black. The notch takes away a chunk of the screen. Now our phones are not symmetrical and content gets blocked out.
All of these large companies seem to "take" instead of "give". They took away replaceable batteries, they took our headphone jack, now they're eating into the screen too. We'll all forgive these shortcomings for the best camera and UI I suppose. That's the reason so many of us are sticking with our Pixels. It's not because of the notch. It's not an innovation, it's a band-aid. An ugly one on the forehead.
Hopefully not as problematic as current XL, lucky pixel xperia XZ2 and pixel Z2 force fill the market
aks, 09 Jun 2018google pixel 2 takes much better photos than iphone XIt doesn't. I use both and they are close enough to be the same to me. I like the X much better as a design.

No new solutions go unhated, it seems.
The Pixels are pretty ugly phones, but it has nothing to do with the notch. The notch is just fine and the world is moving on.
The botch, I mean notch, is just Sooo stupid!
Please just make it stop. What a dark chapter in smartphone history.
As an ex Nexus user the way I see this is; it's an admission of defeat if the notch pans out plain and simple. And Apple just got handed the ultimate recognition as the de facto smartphone design "innovator" when the notch is just a piss poor way to add in Face ID while attempting for the tri bezelless approach. Hell they might as well from now on just add a notch anywhere on the screen just for kicks so that they'd see which Android OEM is gonna fall for that.
So no even if anyone here hates Samsung or name any other Android OEMs, avoid ALL notched droids like the plague and only support those with balls enough to stick with their own product design.
I can understand if 2nd or 3rd rate Chinese OEMs are lazy enough but if it gets to a Pixel??? ... lol gtfoh...
If it will come without notch and if there will be dual sim variant, I will buy it
What a crap, I think they need to spend some money for style and design and if don't have the capacity delay it for a year or two
Although these phones are brilliant and one of the very best out there available, I cant bring myself to like the aesthetics. This phone is so ugly and boring and generic looking, it looks like a dodgy third party company phone that wont make it into the real market. I know the phones themselves are among the best performers in its class but I expected more from a company as huge and successful as google. Fan of the hardware disappointed in the design.
What is actually so compelling about the notch? What is it that it accomplishes that is SO necessary that it be there?
If it's just saving a little bezel space, no thank you. I'm actually quite fond of stylings like those on the Moto Gs, with the symmetrical (or largely so) bezels. Plus, I just foresee this making repair more awkward.
Hmmm. So this is the XL version cause it has the notch (Yuck).
The desing hasn't changed much from last year so no go.
Google shoul lower the price on nexus level to boost sales
