Hey mate,
I am also using the OP 6 device and I successfully unlocked the bootloader with the fixed bug and no issues after unlocking it. The updated guide is somewhere else found on the web. If you want to unlock it. then take a look at here: https://www.androidstrike.com/unlock-bootloader-of-oneplus-6/

ZloiYuri, 11 Jun 2018So typical chinaphone with chinaqualityI have OP3, OP3T & OP6 and i admit its build quality is on par or even better compared to other android flagships and crapple. It's different from typical chinese phones...

James Whister, 11 Jun 2018And still people say oneplus is better compared to htcs and apples.let me remind you STH: serch here at gsmarena to find out that you could unlock iphones just by miss calling to it and get all the owner data to your hand(well this proses is way easier than what you can do with one plus 6) in both cenarios(OP6 and iphone) the attacker is known to victim and maybe in rear case unknown

                    Eh.
I'd rather take that vulnerability, use it to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP and r00t the device, then change the kernel to a customised one, install a respected Custom ROM, and make sure that me (the owner and the user) are in-charge of the security and privacy of the data by cutting down data given to OnePlus servers, 3rd-party App servers, and to Google's servers. Its not impossible, its just time consuming and requires medial effort.

But the hardware, there's no fix for that !!

This is the real problem with OnePlus dealing it until now. Carl Pei is always watching user's data after they bought OnePlus phones and sell it to the Russians. XD
